Many people do not know that Genevieve Nnaji did not attend university or polytechnic for her entire life. Her education ended at the secondary school level. Yet, she speaks, writes, and communicates more fluently than most so-called graduates parading certificates, both local and foreign. I was really pensive when she told the world the truth about her education herself two years ago.
But there is a striking dimension to the life of this enigma; for almost a decade now, she has been the richest actress in Nigeria. She's a multi-millionaire in US dollars. In short, she's a millionaire in all currencies in the world.
She's highly respected by both young and old. Her conduct evokes respect. I think one of the reasons she communicates in King's English is that she reads.
Interestingly enough, there's no aspect of life that you will bring up with her that she will be vague, blank, or empty about, but it is not so with many graduates today who don't have the discipline to read just two pages of a good book, column, or documentary in 365 days. A generation that cannot read voraciously is heading to the precipice and, in fact, will continue to choose dangerous leaders, especially in Nigeria.
