Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has inaugurated the construction of 141 urban roads across 13 zones in the state capital, reinforcing his administration's dedication to transforming Enugu into a premier hub for investment, business, tourism, and quality living.
The zones set to benefit from this extensive infrastructure initiative include Abakpa, Achara Layout, Asata, Awkunanaw, Coal Camp, Independence Layout, New Haven, Old GRA, Thinkers Corner, Trans-Ekulu, and Uwani. The official flag-off ceremonies took place at Ologo in the Coal Camp Zone, Enugu North LGA, and Monaque Avenue in the Awkunanaw Zone, Enugu South LGA—communities that have faced neglect for over four decades.
Governor Mbah emphasized that these road projects are integral to his administration's vision of eradicating poverty and expanding Enugu State's economy to $30 billion. He highlighted that improved infrastructure reduces transportation costs and enhances residents' quality of life by increasing disposable income and fostering economic growth.
To ensure timely completion, the 141 roads have been organized into 17 lots, with a targeted completion timeline of three months. The governor assured that financial provisions are in place and that only competent contractors have been engaged to deliver quality work within the stipulated period.
Residents of the affected communities, including Chief Chris Okaka and Chief Ifeanyi Nnaji, expressed gratitude for the government's intervention, noting that the era of neglect has ended. Governor Mbah also commended the Council Chairmen of Enugu North and Enugu South, Hon. Ibenaku Onoh and Hon. Caleb Ani, for their dedication to grassroots development, aligning with the state's vision for a thriving and prosperous Enugu.
This comprehensive road construction initiative underscores the administration's commitment to empowering the people of Enugu and creating opportunities for wealth generation through strategic infrastructure development.
