UMUEBU INAUGURATES NO SCAVENGING COMMITTEE
The Acting President General of Umuebu Development Union, Dn Ben I. Olokume has inaugurated a 5 man committee to arrest any scavengers seen in Umuebu community.
The inauguration was as a result of Ukwuani Local Government Chairman, Hon (Bar) C. S. Possible Ajede's directive to arrest any scavenger/ Scrab pickers in the Local Government Area.
Dn. Olokume said that the Council Chairman placed an indefinite ban on scavengers/scrabs picking in the Local Government Area and also further directed that all scavenging dump sites within the community in the Local Government Area should be cleared within two weeks.
He told the Committee members to impound any cart/truck seen in the community with scavengers, adding that enforcement of "No Scavenging Orders in the clans must be carried out by the Committee
The Acting President General used the opportunity to appealed to Umuebu people to clear their compound with in one week.
Responding on behalf of the Committee members, the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Fidelis Ekule thanked the President General for appointing them to serve in the committee.
Mr. Ekule who is Umuebu Youth Chairman promised that the order of "No Scavenging" in Umuebu Community must be carried out accordingly.
