I just shopped some back-to-school essentials for Zim, and honestly, September is starting to feel very close! 🥹

We’re gradually getting ready for his first day of school, one item at a time.

Have you started shopping for yours, mamas?

I included the prices I got them…..just to give you an idea of what to expect if you’re a first time shopper like me.❤️

No mama!
You actually don’t need water at all. The natural oils in the groundnuts are enough to turn them into that smooth, creamy peanut butter.

Here’s how I make mine 👇🏽

Step 1: Get your groundnuts/peanuts and sort them properly to remove stones and bad nuts.

Step 2: Roast the groundnuts until they are nicely toasted. You can roast them in a dry pan or use an oven. Just be careful not to burn them.

Step 3: Allow them to cool completely.

Step 4: Remove the skin if you prefer your peanut butter smooth and lighter in colour.

Step 5: Add the roasted groundnuts to your blender or food processor and start blending.

At first, it will look like groundnut powder. Keep blending and scraping down the sides when necessary.

Step 6: Keep going!
The groundnuts will gradually release their natural oils and start changing from powder to a thick paste, then finally to smooth, creamy peanut butter.

And please, DON’T ADD WATER.

Water can introduce moisture and can significantly reduce the shelf life of homemade peanut butter.

Once it reaches the consistency you like, transfer it into a clean, dry, airtight jar.

That’s it!

I hope this helps🫶🏻

WE DID IT! 🎉

I found a way to get Zim to trace the number 6 without getting bored! 😂

I made a cutout from a carton, placed it on paper, and had him trace around it. He was SO happy doing it!

And guess what? He kept at it for 2 whole days! 🙌🏽

Now look at us… writing the number 6 so confidently! 🥹

If you’re looking for a sign to stay consistent but flexible when teaching your toddler, this is it. Sometimes, you just need to switch up the method and make learning more fun for them.

We’ve won this round, mamas!

On to the next number!

One time I posted my toddler’s lunch and it was rice and stew. One comment stood out:

“Which kine tiny stew be this one?” 😒

I had to check her profile before replying, and I saw she was a young lady, so I replied, “Obviously, you don’t have a toddler.”

See ehn, toddlers are different breeds!

I don’t know about yours, but with Zim, the stew has to be little ooo, or he starts saying, “Pepper! Pepper!”

So ideally, I’m supposed to mix the stew with the rice properly in the kitchen before bringing it to him so he thinks it’s Jollof rice. But tell me, how will I take my cute food pictures?

I just put a little stew on the rice, take my pictures, then mix everything up properly before giving him. Everybody is happy! 😂

Does your toddler like rice and stew, or do they prefer jollof rice?

I’ve been laughing and staring at my toddler while he sleeps. This boy doesn’t even know what’s coming! 😩😂

Zim maintains a strict routine like his body has been programmed.
He eats by 8am every morning, sleeps by 10am and wakes up around 12pm for brunch.

His body is so used to the routine that once it’s around 9:30am, his eyes become so dazed and you just know sleep is near. 😂

But with September just around the corner and school about to start, I’m wondering how this boy’s body will adjust to a whole new routine. I just hope he settles in quickly.

One question I made sure to ask during our school hunting was: “How many breaks do the Nursery 1 children get?”

Because honestly, at their age, they still need some downtime during the day. They’re little children, not mini adults. ❤️

Fellow mamas, how are we getting our little ones’ bodies ready for this adjustment?
Are you gradually changing their routines now or just letting them adjust when school starts?

If you use toilet rolls, here’s your sign to start saving those cartons! 😄

These simple activities have been keeping my toddler busy since morning, and I love that he’s having fun while learning.

Activities like this help improve his recognition skills, fine motor skills, concentration and ability to stay attentive—all while he’s simply playing.

Toddlers learn best through play, so let’s make their playtime count! 🥰

Considering this rainy weather, now may not be the best time to make Tombrown cereal or soybeans the traditional way—unless, of course, you have a functional dehydrator or oven. 😅

Sundrying grains in this weather can be such a struggle!

How are you mamas coping with sundrying your grains? Are you patiently waiting for the sun to show up, or have you found another way around it?
