THE WORD FOR TODAY FRIDAY 13TH OF JUNE 2025, HOME FELLOWSHIP

TOPIC: SEEING THE GLORY OF GOD.

MEMORY VERSE:
2 CORINTHIANS 3:18; But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

BIBLE TEXT:
2 CORINTHIANS 3:15-18
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: ACTS 22-24

MESSAGE:
Don't you just love Paul's way of making everything sound incomprehensible! Today I feel like that and have been working hard to see what he might mean. I wish I was in a group working together to see what we could come up with. I get the first part in that the early books of the Old Testament – those once thought to be written by Moses – are still being read today by all Jewish people as this is the Torah, the most sacred of their Scriptures, but without understanding that these were written to lead them to see Jesus as the Messiah.

Christians reading them today see this promise fulfilled in Jesus the Christ. When we live in Christ we are living by the Spirit and living in this way brings freedom because we are living by the law of love which contains all of the commandments given to Moses. I believe that Paul is trying to tell us that we can see the glory of God reflected in our faces and in the faces of other Christians who are doing their best to follow the way of Christ in love. There are people who I have known over the years whose faces literally shine when they speak of their love of Jesus. When I am with them, I truly feel that I am looking at the living face of God, I can only hope that my life is also a witness to my love of God so that others can see God in me.

REFLECTION:
Are you a carrier of God’s glory? Do people look at you and see the glory of God?

PRAYER POINT:
Heavenly Father, let our love of you and our desire to live our lives following Jesus' law of love, shine forth from our hearts and be visible to other so that we may draw them also to you. Amen.

THE WORD FOR TODAY WEDNESDAY 11TH OF JUNE 2025@JOGM HOME FELLOWSHIP

TOPIC: JESUS THE GOOD SHEPHERD.

MEMORY VERSE
JOHN 10:11; I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

BIBLE TEXT:
JOHN 10:11-16
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR; ACTS 16-18

MESSAGE:
There are many shepherds, but not all of them are "good." Many flee when they see the wolf coming and care not for the sheep. But Jesus laid down his life for his sheep. Not all men are his sheep, but those who will believe in him; and not one of his sheep shall perish. Today, it is so rare to find a good shepherd who cares and watches over your soul. But nowadays we have too many fake shepherds who only cares about the material things you have, the moment you start facing some difficult challenges in your life or your wealth and material things are no more there, they’ll leave you alone and move to someone else who has money, and some of these people calls themselves good shepherds.

There is one good shepherd I know who truly loves and cares for His sheep, and His Name is Jesus. Through Him also comes good shepherds who truly loves, cares and watches over your soul, and when God sends such people to you, do not take them for granted, honor and cherish them. Before I got married to my husband, I’ve always been surrounded with fake people who never loved or cared about me, all they want is for me to fail, how can I fail when God is with me and watches over my soul? Thank God also for sending His son to me(My husband), through Him I’ve learnt so many things, he points me always to the word of God, always ensuring that am always praying and not fainting, that is a good shepherd. When God sends such people to you, value them and don’t treat them anyhow.

There are so many people who are one of Jesus’s sheep, but they are still in the world, our Bible text for today made me understand in John 10:16, and God will help them and bring them into the fold and be saved. There is too much condemnation in the body of Christ, when they see someone who tinted his/her hair they condemn and say they don’t deserve to be in the fold. Can I remind you, the power is not in your hands to determine who or who is not to be in the fold of Jesus, and I thank God that God didn’t give human being that power to decide who enters the kingdom of God, so stop your criticism and condemnation, Jesus came to die for everyone and to save those who are lost.

ACTION POINT:
Reach out to one person or more today and tell them about JESUS THE GOOD SHEPHERD.

PRAYER POINT:
Dear Jesus, you are my Good Shepherd, O Lord. You laid down your life for me, and you provide all things that I need from day to day and forever. Your goodness is unmatched by the hireling shepherds of this world. Your goodness and love surpass all that of man to an infinite degree and leave us in wonder and awe. Amen.

THE WORD FOR TODAY TUESDAY 10TH OF JUNE 2025@JOGM HOME FELLOWSHIP

TOPIC: THE BEATITUDES

MEMORY VERSE:

MATTHEW 5:3; Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

BIBLE TEXT:
MATTHEW 5:1-10
1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR; ACTS 13-15

MESSAGE:
Jesus' Sermon on the Mount is one of the most quoted sections of the New Testament. In some translations, blessed is translated as happy. If you read them that way, would they take on a different meaning? After all we all want to be happy! Happy are the poor in spirit. We want to get to the kingdom of God but do we really want to be poor in spirit, or be persecuted? I know it doesn't say "poor." But to be poor in spirit might mean being generous in spirit. We might have to think of others before ourselves, making sacrifices, and helping the poor.

If we turn to God and allow him to walk with us, we will find comfort. The world doesn't hold the meek in high esteem, but turning the other cheek takes strength. Acknowledging our weaknesses as well as our strength takes strength. Since Jesus calls us to work for justice, it is part of following Christ that should encourage our hunger for what is right. Those who are merciful, who are able to be compassionate and forgive are the ones that will be forgiven more easily when they fail. And who doesn't want peace? The problem is we need to work for justice if we want peace. We need to refrain from seeing violence as an answer to problems. If we pay attention to the beatitudes, and live them, we will be happy.

KEY POINT:
If we turn to God and allow him to walk with us, we will find comfort.

PRAYER POINT:
Heavenly Father, you gave us the commandments to help us learn how to live, and you had your Son Jesus give us the rules for happiness. Help us to live them. Amen.

THE WORD FOR TODAY MONDAY 9TH OF JUNE 2025@JOGM HOME FELLOWSHIP

TOPIC: IS THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKING IN YOUR LIFE?

MEMORY VERSE:
ACTS 2:4; And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

BIBLE TEXT:
ACTS 2:1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR; ACTS 10-12

MESSAGE:
Answering this question implies that you look for the Holy Spirit's action in your life! So, take a few minutes and think about the past week or two. What opportunities have you had to help someone? What gifts of yours have been called upon? Did a friend or relative need a shoulder to lean on? Have you had to make any serious decisions lately? What moments of joy have you experienced? Did you receive an answer to prayer? These are all examples of places where the Holy Spirit is present. We don't always recognize the Spirit.

The disciples of Jesus had an experience of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost that changed not only their lives but ours as well. Without their witness and the witness of those that came after them, we would never have known about the saving act of Jesus, We would still be fearful of suffering death believing that was the end, that there was nothing and no one waiting for us in the afterlife. We will probably never have so profound an experience of the Spirit as they did, but that doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit isn't present in our lives. When we share our experiences of God, when we open ourselves to others we are also witnesses that can give others hope. Where is the Holy Spirit present in your life? The Spirit is present; all we need to do is look.

KEY POINT:
The Holy Spirit is very much active, and without the Holy Spirit you can do nothing. Do you have the Holy Spirit in your life?

PRAYER POINT:
Come Holy Spirit, fill us with the joy and understanding with which you gifted your disciples on Pentecost and came to us at Baptism. Help us to appreciate this gift and give us the courage of the apostles to testify to our faith. Amen.

THE WORD FOR TODAY SUNDAY 8TH OF JUNE 2025@JOGM HOME FELLOWSHIP

TOPIC: STAY AND WAIT ON THE LORD.

MEMORY VERSE:
ACTS 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

BIBLE TEXT:
ACTS 1:1-8
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR; ACTS 7-9

MESSAGE:
Wouldn't you love to be able to ask the apostles what they were thinking during these days of waiting? They really had no idea what it would mean. They had all run away when Jesus was arrested. Only John was at the foot of the cross. They stayed in the upper room when they were in Jerusalem, or back in Galilee as Jesus had asked. Now Jesus was leaving them and he told them to wait for something or someone but they didn't have any idea what it would be. What we do know is that they waited, prayed, and chose someone to replace Judas.
So many Christians are into big trouble trouble today because they refuse to wait on God, they feel they can get it all sorted out by themselves without needing the help of God. Let me remind you once again incase you have forgotten, you can’t do anything on your own without God(John 15:5).

Sometimes we want Jesus to act in our lives now, and we hate to be told to wait, but God doesn't work in our time frame. Often we need to wait. What do we do while waiting? Do we gather with others to pray with us? Do we ask the Holy Spirit to help us? Or do we try to solve our problems ourselves without waiting for God to be with us? It's easy to think that we can do a better job with taking care of our lives than God, after all, we know ourselves better than anyone, right? Well, how does that work for you? I know it doesn't work for me. Patience is not a gift I have an abundance of. However, I have learned from experience that God does know what's best for me and it will save me a lot of trouble if I wait for his lead. How about you?

KEY POINT:
When you try to sort out things yourself you’ll only make mistakes and get into more troubles. You must learn to wait on God.

PRAYER POINT:
Lord Jesus, you asked the apostles to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit before they went out to preach. You often ask us to wait for the guidance of the Spirit in our lives as well. Give us the grace to do as you have asked us to do. Amen.
