Update: Pictures have been flying around the social media of a man in handcuffs identified as 25 yrs old Chinedu Ike, as serial phone thief who operated around Iyana Oworo, Lagos and said to have been arrested by the Lagos State’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) for the the same reason.
However the purpose of this publication is to send an alert to his relatives to check up on him and investigate if he is actually guilty of what has been tagged on him and also for anyone else, a lawyer, human rights group or charity that can volunteer to investigate if the young man is actually of our Igbo origin in the first place as its easy for criminals in Nigeria to quickly adopt Igbo names whenever they get in trouble. Anti Igbo Bloggers also have the antecedents of such mischief; they can grab any picture, write unfounded stories about it with fictitious Igbo identity to it, knowing it will get the attention of potential followers, give them traffic and ultimately profile and paint Ndi Igbo black.
