31 DAYS BIBLE STUDY/PRAYERS

DAY FOUR: 4TH JAN., 2026

SUB-THEME: IN GOD'S STRENGTH

TOPIC: GROWING TO BECOME STRONG
TEXT: LUKE 2:40- 52

AIMS: To understand the meaning of growth in the context of spiritual strength; quality life and enrich other lives.

MEMORY VERSE: _Matt.13:8 “But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundred fold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold."

INTRODUCTION
To grow is to increase in size, number, ability, intelligent, wisdom (physical, mental and spiritual capability and capacity); To increase in strength and quality, to become bigger, taller, longer, develop and improve. Luke 2:40 states, “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit …“in verse 52; And Jesus increase in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man” Jesus grew while on earth and this places a serious demand upon us; it shows that growth is a basic necessity and a demand on believers in Christ. He grew and waxed strong is a heaven- recognized growth.
This kind of growth however, raises a soul-searching question. How can we grow? What are indices of spiritual growth? To grow requires an addition and intentionality “to the word of God, a daily studying to show ourselves approved. It requires consistent and fervent prayers, deep fellowship and total obedience to instructions. The evidence of this growth will correspond with 2 Peter 1:5-10

STUDY GUIDE
1. Explain with practical example; the term growing to become strong
2. “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit” In your own understanding mention and explain how Christians can wax strong in the Lord
3. What steps can we take to accelerate growth and wax strong in the spirit of the Lord?

(I) Hear God's word daily- Rom. 10:17 (ii) Believe, speak and declare God's word (Luke.17:5-6) 2Cor. 4:13 (iii) Pray in the Spirit Jude 1:20 (iv)EstablishinRighteousness,1sa.54:14
4. In a new year like this discuss what shall be the benefits of our daily spiritual growth.
5. Are there dangers if we refuse to grow strong? Mention them (Num. 14:11,12,21-29; Matt.13:4-7-25)

CONCLUSION: The Scripture clearly reveals that shallow- rooted Christians begin well but will not endure the hard times. They do not have must strength “to stand against the wiles (schemes) of the devil “Eph. 6:13. Those who refuse to past through the pain and patient of spiritual growth will be out of service, irrelevant, even out of existence. But the righteous will flourish like palm tree even in dry season.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

STUDY 1: 4TH JANUARY, 2026 (CHRISTMAS 11)
SUB THEME: INTRODUCTORY STUDY
STUDY TOPIC: PRESENTING EVERYMAN PERFECT IN CHRIST
STUDY TEXT: COL. 1:28

STUDY OBJECTIVES: By the end of this study, all participants should
* Narrate the direction of Sunday school studies in 2026;
* Understand the theme and it's message;
* Be encouraged enough to attend Sunday school this year.

*MEMORY VERSE: _Colossians 1:28, Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus._*

INTRODUCTION
A good habit is worth keeping. Then there should be appraisal to ascertain how good and profitable our habits are. One habit that all Christians should keep is to sit at the Master's feet regularly with other believers, to study His word. Jesus commended Mary who did so against her elder sister who busied herself out of Jesus' presence. In Matthew 12:48-50, Jesus says that those sitting around Him to hear His word are His mother, brothers and sisters. Decide therefore, the type of relationship with Jesus and other brethren you desire this year. But as Joshua did, we advise you to choose life and God's word above every other thing.
The theme for our Sunday school sessions this year is the Synod theme for 2025. The theme is: Presenting Everyman Perfect in Christ. It's taken from Colossians 1:28. The word “man” includes everyone - male, female, and children. “Perfect” is better seen as “matured”. To “present” cannot be physical since Jesus is no longer here on earth. More will come from the study.

STUDY GUIDE
1. What are the likely advantages of using the Synod theme for Sunday schools?
2. Recite the theme about three times together. Then let some recite it alone.
3. Read the theme text from Amp, NLT, and Good news Bibles. What does the theme mean? What does it not mean?
4. From this, why should you attend Sunday school regularly & punctually? Psalm 122:1; Heb. 10:25
5. There will be the following major sections during our 2026 Sunday school classes (Briefly think about the possible direction of each sub-theme):
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Mandate – the work;
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Method – the way to do it;
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Means – what to use;
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Messenger – workers needed;
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Men to Present – target to reach;
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Motive & Benefits – reasons & rewards;
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Manifestations Expected – results in mind;
* Present Everyman Mature in Christ: Challenges and Consequences – troubles to expect; and
* Present worthy Gifts—Harvests.

CONCLUSION
God is supreme but He won't compel anyone to present himself or herself to Him. The extent of presentation determines the extent of His Lordship over that life, hence the better it would be for that person. Fully present yourself to Christ now so that He will empower you and prosper your ways this year.
See you in all Sunday school sessions throughout 2026!

TOPIC: BUILDING SPIRITUAL STRENGTH
TEXT: JUDE 1:17-24

AIMS:
* To provide effective strength to navigate and withstand life's inevitable trails and tribulation;
* to build strength for purpose and direction

*MEMORY VERSE: _Acts 9:22 “But Saul increased the more in strength and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ''._*

*INTRODUCTION:*
To build is to develop, grow, increase, add and multiply, etc. Building spiritual strength is not accidental, but Intentional. It is not about time and an event, but the importance of building spiritual capacity to serve as a reservoir. Relationship with God through intentional and consistent fasting/prayer, bible study, strong desire for the infilling of the Holy Spirit and aggressive involvement in service to God and fellow brethren. This is a personal responsibility. In Matthew 25:9. "But the wise answered, saying, "But the wise answered, saying, "No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves". Anyone that neglects this will loose and will be termed ''FOOLISH'' (Matt.25:8). Each year's success is not reserved for you because Christ had finished the battle, rather, to those who pursue after God.

*STUDY GUIDE*

2. Daily desire and strong pursuit in building spiritual strength give us better advantage over our adversaries. Comment on this.

NEW YEAR COVENANT PRAYERS/BIBLE STUDY DAY 1

THURS. 1 JAN. 2026

SUB-THEME: IN GOD'S STRENGTH
TOPIC: SOURCE OF SPIRITUAL STRENGTH
TEXT: 1 SAM 17:31-47
AIMS:
i. To enable us to seek the right spiritual strength.
ii. To expose us to know that there are various sources people seek
for spiritual strength.

MEMORY VERSE: Ps 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength
a very present help in trouble.”

INTRODUCTION:
The Scripture holds that the ultimate source of spiritual strength one can have is God through Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Spiritual strength is available to God's people for unlimited
performance if we seek and pray for it. For example, David in his
confrontation and battle with Goliath revealed the source of his strength. He said to the Philistine, “you come to me with a sword, with a spear, with a Javelin. I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel.” Like David, we are not to use human
strength. David didn't see what others saw, from the source of his strength he saw an opportunity; he decided to use proven weapons he knows would work, not conventional devices; he knows Goliath's source of strength is mortal; he wanted to reveal his sources of
strength to the world--the most reliable in every century.

STUDY GUIDE
1. In your understanding mention and discuss different sources men had relied upon as source of spiritual strength. (Exodus 7:11-12,22; 1Sam 28:7-8; Acts 8:9-11)
(b) Tell us with life evidence
the sources of your spiritual strength.
2. How would you explain the sources of spiritual strength that
come from God? (Gen 26:1-5,12-13; 2Chron.20:2-6; Acts. 2:1-4)
(b) Are there derivable benefits in our quest and pursuit of God's
given strength. Make your answers more practical. (Gen. 26:12 -13, 22-25; Acts 13:2 -12; Job 19:25-26, Ps.2:3)
3. Goliath had been fighting battles and winning until he encountered David, and Beal worshipers might have been calling down fire until they met Elijah. Give likely incidents in your assessment of such happening in our time, discuss.
4. What shall be the adverse effect on us this New Year, if our
spiritual strength is not focused on God? Discuss with examples
(1Sam.1:11-14; 28:7-8) 1Sam 31:1-5, Luke. 12:16-20)

CONCLUSION: In the world system, men rely on human strength
and achieve little but through this study we were encouraged to
develop and maintain our strength in the Lord as the Scripture
admonishes us “The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has
become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him and my
father's God, and I will exalt Him” (Exo. 15:2)

*Prayer of Thanksgiving*
