STUDY 31: 2ND AUGUST, 2026 (TRINITY 9)

SUB-THEME F: PRESENT EVERYMAN … MOTIVES & BENEFITS
STUDY TOPIC: CHURCH ENLARGEMENT AND GROWTH
STUDY TEXT: ACTS 2: 42-47

STUDY OBJECTIVES: By the end of this study, participants should be able to
* Explain what Church Enlargement and Church Growth mean;
* Accept them as motives for presenting everyman perfect in Christ;
* Understand the relationship between church growth and ways everyman is presented.

MEMORY VERSE: JOHN 12:32; And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all to myself.

INTRODUCTION:
The Church is a living organism (1 Cor. 12:12) that should experience growth and enlargement constantly. The responsibility to endear, encourage and ensure this growth is the obligation of every believer in the church. We must endeavour to 'Present Everyman' to God, as those called to reconcile men to God ( 2 Cor. 5:18).
Church growth and enlargement entail increase in the church both numerically and spiritually. Church growth (multi-dimensional increase) and enlargement (having many other branches) result from deliberate and intentional efforts. The relationship between 'Presenting Everyman' and church growth/ enlargement shall be x- rayed by means of this study.

STUDY GUIDE:
1. What is Church Enlargement and Church Growth. Cf. Acts 2:38-41; 2:47.
b. How do they take place? Acts 11:19; 15:35, 36-41.

2. How does the church's failure to 'Present Everyman' affect its growth and enlargement? 2 Tim 4:3-4, Heb 5:12, Rev 3:15-16

3. X-ray the benefits of 'Presenting Everyman' to the believer, church and society. Rev 2:10, Dan 12:3, 1 Cor. 3:8, Phillip 4:1, James 5:20.

CONCLUSION:
Church enlargement and growth are manifestations that a church is effectively discharging its responsibility of 'Presenting Everyman' perfect in Christ. These can only be achieved through obedience, prayer, evangelism, discipleship and following the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

HEAVEN'S MANDATE

"Behold, I have received a command to bless:
He has blessed, and I can not revoke it" ( Numbers 23:20).

The text above describes one of the major threats on Israel and one of the major turning points in their journey to the promised land.
Balak, the king of Moab, had decided that Israel would not go beyond the borders of his country. He hired Balaam, the sorcerer, to place a curse on Israel, but the LORD resisted him and insisted that Israel was a people of blessings and could not be cursed. Balak's resistance was an attack on Israel's nationhood and an opposition to redemption. The LORD’S intervention proves that God rules in the affairs of men and that His purpose can not be thwarted. What was a clear plan of annihilation of the covenant people turned to a means of Heaven's declaration of the peculiarity and the redemptive implication of their calling.

Today and always, we pray that the Lord will overrule the counsel of wickedness against your life. May the Lord bring an end to the various political, economic, and religious forces that stand in opposition to the destiny of our nation. May the instruments designed by satan and his agents to destroy you and perpetuate their evil influence over our country, become vessels of declaration of your (our), prosperity and peace, in Jesus' name,' Amen.

Happy New Month

SUNDAY SCHOOL

STUDY 30: 26TH JULY, 2026 (TRINITY 8)

SUB–THEME F PRESENT EVERYMAN... MOTIVES AND BENEFITS
STUDY TOPIC: CHRIST'S GLORY AND SANCTIFICATION
STUDY TEXTS: 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14 – 18, 1 PETER 1:14-16

STUDY OBJECTIVES: By the end of this study, participants should be able to
Explain what sanctification is and entails.
Reckon with its importance and how significant Christ's glory is in pursuing sanctification;
Appreciate and be motivated by the cost of Christ's blood to engage in
presenting …
Realize and utilize the means of sanctification appropriately.

MEMORY VERSE: Rom 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God is”.

INTRODUCTION:
Another major motive why we should present everyman perfect in Christ is His glory – that He may be glorified on earth and in heaven, as a result of our sanctification. Christ is glorified when we present people perfect in Him because their spiritual maturity, completeness, and holiness in Him serve as a public display of His supreme worth, transformative power, and the effectiveness of His redemptive work. His Glory increases with increased manifestation of His Power as those who believe in Him grow from spiritual infancy to maturity (sanctification) thus magnifying His name; by demonstrating His sufficiency which signifies that all the needs for a fulfilled human existence are found exclusively in Him; through fulfilling God's Eternal purpose, when God's plan conforms believers to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29). It's also by exalting His work and reflecting His image that His Glory rises.

STUDY GUIDE
1. In your own words, explain “sanctification” and what it entails. Cf. 2 Cor. 6:14-18, 1 Thess. 5:22

2. What is the importance of “sanctification” and how does it affect Christ's glory and our presenting people perfect in Christ? Lev 11:45, Luke 1:74-75, Rom 12:1-2, 1 Peter 1:15- 16.

3. Mention and discuss the means of sanctification
* By the word of God – John 17:17, Psalm 119:11.
* By the blood of Jesus Christ – Heb 13:12, 9:13-14
* By chastisement – Heb 12:6-11
* By yielding to the Holy Spirit – Rom 5:19, 1 Cor 6:11
* By playing our part – 2 Cor. 7:1
* By praying – 1Tim 4:5, Jude 20.

4. What are the benefits of sanctification? Proverbs 28:13, psalm 15:1-6, 66:18-20, 92:10-15; John 15:8, 16; Acts 11:26; 4:13.

CONCLUSION
Sanctification cannot be imparted from one person to another. It is the fruit of continually abiding in Christ. Sanctification is worthy of a Christian's calling and guarantees that in the end, he/she will reap a just reward. Are you living a sanctified life?
