                                            CWO Triennial Convention: Bishop Ezeokafor Tasks Members on Responsible Parenting for Useful Children 
The atmosphere in Awka the Anambra State capital was filled with joy and celebrations on Saturday, October 18, 2025, as the entire members of the Catholic Women's Organization, CWO, Diocese of Awka, converged at St Patrick's Cathedral, Awka, for the grand finale of the CWO's 2025 Triennial Convention.
Some highlights of the event included, three hundred million Naira fundraising for the CWO's projects, empowerment of 117 indigent members of the organization with a bag of rice each, cash empowerment of 14 widows and other indigent members, to support their small businesses, presentations of award of honour to the past executives of the organization for their services, and a number of other individuals for their outstanding support to the organization.
The event, which began on Friday October 17 with a lecture and a quiz competition on the Church teachings, attracted a number of religious men and women, who included the Vicar General of the Diocese, Rev Fr Peter Akaenyi; government officials, who included the Wife of the Governor of the State, Dr Nonye Soludo represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche; the Senator representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly, Sir Victor Umeh; the Labour Party and All Progressives Congress' candidates for the November 8 governorship election in the State, Dr George Moughalu and Hon Nicholas Ukachukwu respectively, among others.
In a homily during a Holy Mass heralding the event, the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, admonished the CWO members to prioritize the training of their children above every other engagements, with a view to personally teaching them how to pray, the does and donts of the Church and society, among others, to enable them to grow into useful adults.
Queen competition, various cultural dances by deaneries, performances demostrating farming practices by the women, among others, added glamour to the event, which was a carnival of sorts.
