SENATE MOVES TO SCRAP AGE LIMIT IN JOB ADVERTISEMENTS IN NIGERIA

If the resolution of the Senate is agreed with by the Executive arm of Government, there would abolition of age limit in job advertisements in the country, just as it has asked Employers of labour in Nigeria to relax age requirement as precondition for employment in Nigeria, Native Reporters learnt.

The Senate Wednesday resolved to abolish age limitations in job advertisements, just as it has asked the Federal Government to immediately draw up policies that relate to equality of opportunity and treatment in access to employment at all levels.

The Senate has urged the Federal Ministry of Labour , Employment and Productivity, other relevant agencies to restrict and discourage public and private employers from depriving millions of job seekers employment opportunities merely for not meeting age requirement.

Resolutions of the Senate yesterday were sequel to a motion titled “Age Requirement Precondition for Employment in Nigeria, Urgent Need for Intervention”

It was sponsored by Senator Abba Morom PDP, Benue South.

According to him, it was pathetic “that a graduate in Nigeria who could not get a job upon graduation and decided to back to school with the hope that a higher qualification, vis-a- vis a second or Masters Degree could give him a better employment opportunity is thrown into a career paradox when upon completion of his Masters Degree he comes out to find that he is now above the age of employment and therefore not employable by the sole reason of his age”.

“The circumstances described in the foregoing presents the predicament of the Nigerian youth who has the requisite qualification, knowledge, skills and is ready to work but disqualified or excluded on the sole and unjustifiable ground that he/ she is above the age limit by reason of his/ her birth”.

She beat Miss Venezuela to the coveted crown. The beauty pageant held in New Orleans, Louisiana, US. 84 women from across the world competed for the crown.

According to the organisers of the pageant, R'Bonney is an eco-friendly fashion designer, model, and sewing instructor with an excitement for life. She was the first Filipino-American to win the Miss USA pageant.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ASSAULT ON NASARAWA LADY, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS

The Nasarawa State police command has arrested two suspects seen in viral videos beating a young lady and stripping her naked.

The videos were posted by a tweep, Agatha Akaahar, who revealed that the incident had escalated from a fight between the victim and her friend over a phone number.

In an update on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the Nasarawa State police command was investigating and would provide details soon.

Another tweet by the Nasarawa State police command stated that two of the suspects have been arrested.

“Sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case.

“It is gratifying to state that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle used in conveying the victim to an undisclosed location where she was assaulted has been recovered.

“Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at-large.”

THREE POLICEMEN KLLED AS UNKNOWN GUNMEN ATTACK APOSTLE JOHNSON SULEMAN

The convoy of General Overseer, of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has been attacked by unidentified Gunmen along the Benin-Auchi Road, Edo State.

According to The Punch, the assailants killed seven persons including three police officers.

The attack occurred on Thursday after Suleman returned from a foreign trip and was heading to an undisclosed destination in Edo.

The clergyman’s lawyer, Samuel Amune, confirmed the attack and noted that Suleman just returned from a programme in Tanzania.

He said that the OFM founder he escaped death by a whisker.

“He was returning from a journey and he had almost gotten on the shores of Auchi when some assassins attacked him. Three of his police orderlies, among others died. He travelled before and just finished a programme in Tanzania day before yesterday.

“He was returning to Auchi when the gunmen attacked him along Sabingida down to Warake area, and Auchi shares direct boundary with Warake. So, he had passed Warake and was entering the boundaries of Auchi when the attack happened,” he said.

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, who is a strong ally to the Rivers State Governor, has revealed the limit he won’t exceed in his support for Wike amidst the lingering crisis rocking the party.

While answering questions thrown at him during an interview session, Ikpeazu stated that he won’t decide to support Wike if he decides to fight the presidential candidate of their party or his running mate.

He however stated that if what Wike is fighting for is the inclusivity of the South like he’s currently doing, he would definitely stick with him.

Ikpeazu said: “I am a party man, I am not going anywhere, I will remain in the PDP, but it is good that I am in a place where I can ask those questions about what my people will naturally confront me with. I am not going to support Wike to battle Atiku or Okowa. But, I will support Wike on principle to demand the inclusiveness of the Southeast, the Southsouth and the Southwest in the party.”

INDIA Vs NIGERIA MATCH

Although, there are many versions of the story, every fabricator seems to agree on a couple of facts about this fictional football match. Each storyteller actually agrees that:

1. This match ended with India scoring 99 goals and Nigeria scoring just one goal.

2. Nigerians were unable to kick the ball because the football kept turning to a lion (or something scary) to prevent them from playing the soccer ball.

3. The Indians later agreed that if Nigeria could score a goal, they would concede defeat

4. Thunder Balogun scored the winning goal and lost his life in the process.

5. FIFA banned India from soccer because they used black magic in that very game against Nigeria.

6. When it happened, no one can tell. Not even the oldest indigenous coach in Nigeria seems to know the exact date or at least a year when it happened. But everyone seems to agree that it happened at the National Stadium in Surulere Lagos (Good old Surulere).

7. Many football scholars also seem to agree that it happened immediately after the Civil War.

Who organised the match, nobody knows untill today, but I don’t think FIFA under the late João Havelange would have had anything to do with the organisation of the match because India definitely played bare-footed according to the stories we heard. Historians would agree with me that it was a friendly match because one of the conditions of the match was that if we managed to score a single goal, we would be the winners of the match.

With that agreed, so the match kicked off at the National Stadium in Surulere which was packed full with (deceased) spectators who could have given us the detailed story if they were alive. For the match itself. The Green Eagles, with their expectations high, looked forward to an easy home win.

The fabricators developed their theory from the confessions of the Nigerian players and goalkeeper on the pitch. Their theory is that whenever the Nigerians had the ball, it would immediately transform, by means of Indian Voodoo, to the head of a lion, or other wild animals.

Of course, which Nigerian in his proper senses would continue to kick such a football at the expense of getting his leg bitten off? The keeper also confessed that whenever an Indian fired a shot at him the ball would transform into the head of a roaring lion. The spectators confirmed this with the report that he always dived in the opposite direction of the shot.

To lend belief to this theory, the storytellers also claim that the players on many occasions complained to the referee (who many rumoured to be a Sudanese) about this curious development.

Related imageThe referee, being a citizen of a country where such complex means was unheard of refused to believe their complaints and ordered the match to go on.

By this time, India had already spelled the names of all forefathers of all the Nigerian players on the field and reached an agreement with the Green Eagles if they can score just one goal then they will be considered as the winner of the game.
