2ND YEAR CORONATION ANNIVERSARY SPEECH BY HRM, OBA AYODELE FEMI IDRIS, AJIWO II, GBIRI OF EPINMI AKOKO.
I, HRM, Oba Ayodele Femi Idris, Ajiwo II, the Gbiri of Epinmi Akoko kingdom. I thank God for the gift of life and for witnessing this day. The past two years have been a journey of faith and perseverance, and I return all glory to God. Our land has seen joyful testimonies; homes blessed with children, youths gainfully engaged, and calmness across our Epinmi. I am truly thankful.
I specially appreciate my Olori Gbiri, Olori Ayoola Ayodele Idris, she is one wife in a million, I also acknowledged my chiefs, all sons and daughters of Epinmi both at home and in the diaspora and the entire community for your loyalty and support, while I prayed for good health, prosperity, long life and successful reign.
I would like to start by saying "If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul. What is more, gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.''
“As your kabiyesi, l have just three responsibilities. I am saddled with the maintenance of peace, culture and tradition.
“My responsibility, as handed over to me in my certificates, is to be custodians of the legacies of our ancestors, so that they do not go extinct.” There is no gainsaying that "United we stand, divided we fall.' Unity must be built on trust and mutual respect. “Unity can only be predicated on mutual trust and understanding, reciprocal friendly, brotherly and sisterly relations, as well as shared interests, values and aspirations.”
I mentioned before, that Epinmi Akoko had for long been in topmost position, not only in Akoko South East Local Government Area, but in the entire Yoruba kingdom, and this position has been sustained. Today, the Federal government has approved the establishment of a private college of education, Epinmi Akoko. Also, installation of Solar street light project on the way, new ultra modern Gbiri's palace underway and laying foundation of Multi millions naira Recreational centre. In maintaining this status quo, it requires the contributions of all and sundry. This, I cannot do it alone, because, one thing I know is that, nothing can thrive in the absence of love. Where there is no love, there can never be any iota of development. Our fathers would say “Agbajowo la fi n soya, ajoji owo ko gberu dori.” Your maximum support with me will no doubt propel me to forge ahead in the realization of our dream for a united and progressive Epinmi Akoko.
Finally, I extend my deepest condolences to Olu Iseu and Iseu community, on the painful and untimely demise of Chief Ebenezer Balogun, the Chief Azuna of Iseu Quarters, Epinmi Akoko. May the Lord comfort you and grant the departed soul eternal rest.
Epinmi ko ni ba je.
E seun pupo.
Thank you and God bless you.
Long live Epinmi Akoko.
Long live Ondo State.
