New AFUED Students’ Union Executives advised against hooliganism, gangsterism
The newly elected students’ Union executives in Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, have been advised to shun hooliganism and gangsterism, during the period of their tenure in the institution.
The advice was given by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, during the inauguration of the members of the Central Executive Council (CEC) and elected representatives of the student body, on Tuesday 27 February, 2024 in the University.
Members of the new students’ Union Executives are the President, Okunade Ibrahim A; Vice President, Akinleye Elizabeth; General Secretary, Ogunjobi Mayowa V; Director of Welfare, Agidi Hannah; Treasurer, Ejike Justine; Director of Social and Culture, Odunlade Mercy D; and Director of Information and Publicity, Omotoso Samuel O.
Others are, Director of Sport and Recreation, Dada Kolawole; Director of Transport, Adedoyin Adeniyi D; Assistant General Secretary, Ayoola Oluwatoyin. I and Deputy Director of Welfare, Idowu Israel S.
Congratulating the newly elected students’ union executives for their victory at the election, the Acting University Administrator, said they were being congratulated “ not only because of their emergence as students representatives but also because they are beneficiaries of the efforts of past students leaders, who worked towards the actualization of University status of our institution”.
He advised the new representatives not to betray the trust the students have in them, but “to lead, advocate, and effect necessary and genuine commitment to their welfare.
Dr. Akintunde reminded them of the role of students’ union, noting that their duties demands diligence, inclusivity and deep understanding of diverse needs and aspirations of the students.
