THE AGENCY OF THE SPIRIT
No man journeys into destiny by prophecy alone. The utterances spoken over your life are not self-fulfilling. They require a Spirit to sponsor them. Even Jesus would have remained a mystery locked in obscurity, if not for the Holy Ghost.
Though eternity prophesied Him, though angels heralded His arrival, though wise men discerned His star, without the Holy Spirit, the Christ would not have been revealed.
It was the Spirit that unveiled His ordination to the age. He didn’t enter destiny by awareness, but by submission, to the Spirit Who drove Him into the wilderness. That driving was not punishment. It was the curriculum of stature. There, fasting and prayer were tools in the hand of the Spirit to crystallize conviction, to furnish resilience, to legislate dominion.
The Messiah’s rhythm was dictated by the Spirit. He woke Him early. He led Him to solitude. He gave Him answers men could not resist. The Son heard, and judged righteously, not because of intellect, but because of alignment. “I can of My own self do nothing…” (John 5:30). That was the testimony of a Man under the government of the Spirit.
Isaiah, peering into the scrolls of time, saw the Sevenfold Spirit that would rest upon Him (Isaiah 11:2). In chapter 61, he catalogued the errands that anointing would empower. And in Luke 4, after temptation had forged strength in the inner man, Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit, and declared: “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
Prophecy found expression because the Spirit supplied capacity.
So I ask you again: What is written of you in the volume of the Book?
It is not your ambition that will unlock it. It is not your gift that will sustain it. It is the Spirit Who will reveal it, interpret it, and perform it by the Word.
You will not stumble into what was written. You will be conformed into it. And that conformation will come through the stirrings of the Spirit, those holy promptings to fast, to pray, to forgive, to sow, to tarry. Do not ignore them. These are not religious disciplines; they are ancient pathways, ladders of ascension, patterns of stature.
The Spirit is wooing you, not to excite you, but to make you. Follow His voice. Bend when He beckons. Yield where He draws. He is crafting men who will come in the volume of the Book, men who will live what was written before time began.
