Nonye Soludo Empower Women Living with HIV as ANSACA Moves to Establish Skills Centre

Women living with HIV under the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), Anambra State Chapter, have received empowerment support, including equipment and financial assistance, courtesy of the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo.

The intervention is aimed at strengthening the livelihoods of the beneficiaries, promoting financial independence and ensuring that women living with HIV are supported to live productive and dignified lives.

Speaking during the engagement, the Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), Dr. Nkem Okeke, appreciated the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for providing the leadership and enabling environment that continue to strengthen the state’s HIV response.

He also expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo for her compassion and sustained commitment to the welfare and empowerment of vulnerable women across Anambra State, describing the intervention as a practical demonstration of support beyond healthcare.

Dr. Okeke disclosed that ANSACA is working towards establishing a dedicated Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Centre for women living with HIV, where beneficiaries can receive practical training in fashion designing, baking and other viable income-generating skills.

According to him, HIV care must go beyond access to treatment to include interventions that address economic vulnerability, stigma and social exclusion.

“Our goal is not only to ensure that people living with HIV have access to treatment, but also that they are empowered to live healthy, productive and economically independent lives,” Okeke said.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the equipment and financial support provided, while assuring NEPWHAN of ANSACA’s continued partnership towards improving the welfare of people living with HIV across the state.

The initiative further demonstrates the Soludo administration’s commitment to an inclusive HIV response that prioritises treatment, dignity, empowerment and zero stigma.

What was once a story of survival has tragically become a heartbreaking reality.

Aiza Nwosu, popularly known as “The Undertaker,” a well-known MC and town crier in Awka and its environs, had once stunned residents after being falsely declared dead.

In 2021, reports of his supposed death circulated, leaving many believing that the popular entertainer had passed away. But Aiza later appeared alive, turning what could have been a painful farewell into a remarkable story of survival.

In another incident, following reports of a fatal accident, social media was again flooded with claims that Aiza had died.

But the scene that followed became unforgettable.

An ambulance was seen moving through the streets, seemingly carrying the deceased, only for residents to discover that it was empty. Aiza was alive and riding behind it in another SUV, waving at a cheering crowd and proving that the death reports were false.

He had survived the rumours.
He had survived the accidents.
He had survived what many thought was his final goodbye.

But sadly, the story has now taken a devastating turn.

Reports indicate that Aiza was shot yesterday, bringing a tragic end to a life that had once repeatedly escaped the shadow of death.

The irony is painful: the man popularly known as “The Undertaker,” who once had to prove to the world that he was alive, has now reportedly been killed by gunfire.

For those who knew him, the question is no longer how he survived death rumours, but why his life had to end this way.

What began as a false declaration of death has now become a heartbreaking real-life tragedy.

Asaba Has Been Eating Onitsha’s Lunch For Long

The 3 largest cement distributors in the South-East and South-South regions are headquartered in Asaba. This is not accidental.

Asaba is rapidly establishing itself as one of the region's fastest-growing commercial hubs, actively reshaping the geopolitical and economic landscape of the Lower Niger.

As the capital of Delta State, Asaba enjoys relative administrative stability, a peaceful security profile, and expansive, flat terrain that makes greenfield real estate development significantly easier than in the hilly or congested landscapes of neighbouring states.

Because it sits squarely at the gateway linking the South-West, South-East, and South-South, Asaba serves as the ultimate regional distribution node. This explains why heavy construction materials like cement are heavily warehoused there, acting as the primary staging ground for the construction boom accelerating across both regions.

With the Onitsha Industrial Harbour fully occupied and lacking room for expansion, the Asaba industrial layout along the Ibusa corridor has experienced a surge of interest. Consequently, the Delta State Government is strategically positioning a new industrial park along the banks of the River Niger, adjacent to the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway.

Crisis Rocks Nsugbe Community In Anambra Over Igweship Tussle

Tension has reportedly erupted in Nsugbe community, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, following moves to conduct an election for a new traditional ruler despite an alleged subsisting court order restraining the exercise.

According to Azubuike Obiekwe, Esq., an indigene of the community, the Anambra State High Court had on August 5, 2025, granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the selection or election of an Igwe of Nsugbe pending the determination of a substantive suit challenging the process.

The Igweship contest reportedly involves Mr. Nzesi Nweke, elder brother of the Anambra State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Tochukwu Nweke, SAN, and Obi Franklin Amechi Okeke (Odanike Nsugbe), a businessman and philanthropist.

At the heart of the dispute is the method for selecting the traditional ruler. Obiekwe said the Nsugbe Constitution provides for voting by adult members of Ivite Quarter, whose turn it is to produce the Igwe, while some interests allegedly favoured a delegate system. Aggrieved members of the community subsequently approached the court.

Obiekwe further alleged that on August 24, 2026, the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy/Community Affairs, Vincent Ifeanyi Ezeaka, dissolved the elected Nsugbe Development Union executive and constituted a caretaker committee.

The caretaker committee reportedly announced on the night of Saturday, August 29, that an Igweship election would hold at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, a development that sparked protests and resistance from some members of the community.

Obiekwe described the planned exercise as a violation of the subsisting court order and called on Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to intervene urgently to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Videos reportedly recorded in Nsugbe on Sunday morning showed residents protesting the exercise, with prominent indigenes, including Senators Alphonsus Igbeke and Tony Nwoye, said to be among those opposing the process.

As of the time of this report, the Anambra State Government and other parties mentioned in the allegations had not publicly responded to the claims.
