Obi Was A Trader,An Importer; He knows Better Than Me, But I'm Better Than Him In Administration--------Chris Ngige
In an interview on Signature TV, former Anambra State governor, Chris Ngige, reflected on his time in office and the achievements of his successor, Peter Obi.
Ngige made a clear distinction between their professional backgrounds, stressing that while Obi thrived in business, he himself had stronger expertise in governance.
According to Ngige, “He was a trader. He said he is a trader, he says so, he says he is an importer. He knows those one more than me.”
By this, Ngige emphasized that Obi’s strengths were rooted in commerce and private enterprise, an area in which he acknowledged Obi’s superior knowledge.
However, Ngige underscored his own comparative advantage in public administration. He stated, “But government administration, I'm better than him,”
highlighting that his governance experience positioned him more effectively in managing the complexities of public service.
Ngige further explained that his tenure as governor provided the structural groundwork that enabled Obi to succeed after him.
He said, “so that's what I implied in Anambra state and laid good foundation for him, and he built on the foundation.”
He acknowledged Obi’s contributions but insisted that the initial stability and reforms he introduced as governor set the stage for Obi’s progress.
