Growing up, I remember how my mother would carefully slice the fish and divide the center part into four. Not because she wanted to but because that was the only way each of us, her children, could at least taste a little piece.
Sometimes, it wasn’t about eating to be satisfied. It was about eating to belong, to share, to at least feel the flavor of what we couldn’t truly have enough of. I didn’t understand the sacrifice back then but now, as I look back, I see the love behind those small portions. ©️ Ezinne Juliet
Today, I can walk into the market and buy a whole fish for myself. Not because life suddenly became easy, but because seasons change, prayers work, and struggles push us into growth.
That little piece of fish taught me that nothing lasts forever not lack, not hunger, not even the hardest of days. If you stay consistent, if you keep pushing, one day you’ll look back and smile at how far you’ve come.
From One Slice to a Whole Fish
Never despise small beginnings. What looks like “not enough” today can become more than enough tomorrow. ©️ Ezinne Juliet
