Beloved, the eternal Son, the very Word of God, took upon Himself flesh and blood.
He stooped low, putting on the garment of mortality, for only by becoming a man could He taste death on behalf of us all. Death was a mystery none could solve, a terror none could escape — but Jesus, the Captain of our salvation, came as a Man so that through His own death He might shatter the dominion of the devil, who once wielded the dreadful power of death over humanity.
By His sacrificial death, Christ did not merely weaken the enemy — He disarmed him! He broke the ancient chains and overthrew the kingdom of darkness. Through the shedding of His blood, the legal claims of the adversary were nullified.
No longer could death lord itself over the sons of men; no longer could the grave boast of victory. Jesus stepped into death, wrestled its power, and emerged victorious, handing us the keys of freedom.
Now, dear saints, you have been delivered from the slavery of the fear of death. No longer should your heart tremble at the thought of the grave. Christ has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Rejoice! For to die in Christ is to step into eternal glory. Live boldly, love fiercely, and serve passionately, for the fear of death has been swallowed up in the victory of Christ Jesus.
