New Yam Festival — Iri Ji / Iwa Ji
The New Yam Festival is one of the cherished traditions among the Igbo people. It is a time to celebrate the harvest of the new yam, give thanks to God and appreciate the land, farmers, families and ancestors who have contributed to the year's harvest.
A significant part of the celebration is the blessing of the new yam before it is eaten. Traditionally, elders or community leaders may offer prayers and thanksgiving, asking for continued prosperity, peace, good health and abundant harvests.
The ceremony can include yam presentation, prayers, breaking or eating of the first yam, traditional music, dancing, cultural displays and communal feasting.
It is more than just eating yam—it is a celebration of Igbo identity, gratitude, community and the abundance of the land. 🌿💚

DEMOLITION IN NNOBI 🏘️💔
Seeing parts of Nnobi being demolished can be painful, especially for those who grew up around these places and have memories deeply connected to them.
A building may look like just blocks, walls and roofs, but to an Nnobi person, it can represent family history, childhood memories, ancestral connections and years of hard work.
Development may come with changes, but we should never forget the stories and heritage attached to the places being changed.
Nnobi is more than buildings.
Nnobi is history. Nnobi is culture. Nnobi is home. ❤️
For those who have witnessed the demolition, how did it make you feel?

Beans, Plantain & Utazi
Beans and plantain with a little touch of fresh utazi… 😋🤤
Simple village-style food, but the taste? Omo! Na correct food! 😂
Sometimes, you don't need anything fancy. Just beans, ripe plantain and that bitter-sweet utazi flavour to make everything come together. ❤️🍽️
Who else loves this combination?
