Episode 2:
A Lesson in Grace and Growth
A few weeks after I began working at my aunt’s shop in Modebe, she transferred me to her branch office at New Cemetery. One day, while processing EEDC payments, I mistakenly made a double payment for a customer due to network issues. I immediately reported the error to my aunt. She was furious and, in the heat of the moment, told me that I would not receive my salary for the month.
At that point, I was devastated. I felt hopeless. But to my greatest surprise, she eventually paid me. I hadn't expected such an act of kindness after our disagreement. That gesture alone taught me a profound lesson in forgiveness and compassion.
In my first year at university, I received a job offer to work at a POS outlet. When I shared the news with a friend, she advised me against taking the job. She warned me about the potential risks—difficult customers, technical issues with the bank, and the possibility of falling victim to fake transfers.
But I remembered my experience with my aunt and the values she instilled in me. I confidently told my friend, “Nothing will happen.” I took the job, and I’m thankful I did. Working with my aunt had prepared me to face those challenges with courage and wisdom.
Aunty, you are a remarkable woman. You’ve impacted my life in ways words can hardly express. You are already blessed beyond measure, and I pray you continue to thrive in all that you do.
Happy birthday in advance!😊
