A COURTESY VISIT TO NIGERIAN SECURITY AND CIVIL DEFENSE CORPS.
On the 11th of September, 2025,

The Onitsha Office of the Commission led by the State Coordinator Mr Gabriel Anikwem was accompanied by Mr Okafor Chukwudi Uchenna (ACEO) and Mr Chinedu Henry Chukwuma (PCO1) in collaborate with DJAN Delegates of Anambra State Chapter, led by Mr Chinedu Offia (Chairman) paid a courtesy visit to Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Anambra Command Awka on how to have synergy on enforcement team.

The State Commandant Mr Maku Olatunde in company with Deputy Commandant Prominence Ukaobi (2 i/c to State Commandant, Deputy Commandant lheme Cecelia (HOD private Guards Company dept, Deputy Commandant Akaachi Godwin ( HOD Admin) and Okadigbo Edwin (SOC Head of media).

The State Commandant Mr Maku Olatunde expressed his readiness to work with the Commission and DJAN whenever the need arises.

INFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT IN MUSIC; MANDATORY PERFORMANCE LICENSE REQUIREMENT UNDER THE COPYRIGHT ACT 2022

By this notice, we inform you of the statutory requirement under the Copyright Act 2022 mandating all DJs to obtain a performance license to legally perform copyrighted musical works in public. As provided by Section 9, 12, 36 and 44(7) of the Act, public performances of musical works without the requisite license constitute copyright infringement.

*LICENSE FEE PAYMENT DETAILS:*
> *License Fee:* ₦13,000
> *Notice/Payment Deadline:* September 21st , 2025

*CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE:*
Failure to obtain the performance license by the deadline will result in enforcement actions, including but not limited to:
1. Arrest, investigation and prosecution for the Copyright offence.
2. Confiscation of equipment.
3. Payment of Default & Enforcement fines.
4. Fines of up to ₦1,000,000.
5. Imprisonment of up to 5 years.
6. Prohibition from playing at events

*RELEVANT SECTIONS OF THE COPYRIGHT ACT 2022:*
> *Section 9:* Exclusive rights of copyright owners, including reproduction, distribution, and public performance.
> *Section 12:* Public performance of musical works requires authorization from the copyright owner or a duly authorized licensing body.
> *Section 36 & 47:* Infringements of copyright. Which may lead to civil and criminal liabilities.

We urge you to comply with the law by obtaining the necessary performance license and paying the required fee before September 21st, 2025, to avoid the aforementioned penalties.
