Some IGBOs still have a long way to go. The danger of single story.
One of my patients came to the clinic today, while he was waiting for his turn to be attended to, he was busy discussing with his friend that came with him,he was talking so much about how he don't like Ebonyi people and how they're all timid, and how he don't need them for anything. This is someone i have been treating for two months now.
He went further to say that the only thing they do is farming and selling inconsequential items in garage and along the road side. I just smiled at him.
When he was called in, I reviewed him and treated him as usual, he was full of praises and thanked me so much for giving him the best medical attention.
When I was done treating him, I politely asked him why he so much detest Ebonyi people, he could not give any reason, I asked him again whether he has been to Ebonyi or whether anyone from Ebonyi ever hurt him badly that warranted all the hate? To my greatest surprise, he has not been to Ebonyi, inshort he is from IMO state but was born and raised in the south south, 95% of his judgement was based on "gossip"
I asked him whether he knows where I come from, he said "NO". I told him I'm from Ebonyi state, he was so shocked and regretted everything he has Said. Inshort he wished that moment never existed.
I laughed at him and simply told him to desist from stereotyping people. It's always safer to make your findings before taking anything hook, line and sinker.
However, who told you people that everyone on the streets hawking are Ebonyians and who told you that those hawking on the streets are irresponsible? I will talk about this soon.
