1) Always smile with your customers. If you cannot smile, don't go into business.
2) If you don't have the item a customer is requesting for, tell the customer "Sorry, it has finished, check next time" . Don't just tell the customer "Check the next shop" . It creates the impression you don't sell it. Even when you start selling, the customer may avoid you and move to the next shop.
3) Don't be too friendly with your employees, they will take advantage of you.
4) Never borrow to start a business. Especially a business you don't have much knowledge about. It may not go the way you planned.
5) Never employ someone out of pity, employ who is capable.
6) Don't employ who you cannot fire.
7) Never set up a business you won't be there to monitor closely. It doesn't end well.
8) Pay your employees on time so that they won't steal from you.
9) Avoid selling on credit or reduce the way you sell on credit.
10) Always give listening ears to your customers when they complain.
11) When you start a business, create value first. Your first aim should be providing value not the money. When you provide value, money will come.
12) Have a normal opening time.

14) Appreciate your customers with discounts.
15) If you're a hair dresser or make up artiste, mind the kind of friends you keep. Most of them will get attached to you for free services
16) As a man if you're selling female clothes. Mind the way you laugh with ladies.
17) Once in a while surprise your employees with some bonuses.
18) The outward decoration of your shop matters. It attracts customers. Decorate your shop well with fancy lights and position your products well.
19) Location matters , know the location that suits your business.
20) Don't be rûde to customers just because you have many customers that need you.
21) Treat a customer who buys ₦2,000 worth of products the same way you treat the one who buys ₦100,000 worth.
