The Imo State Police Command has announced the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle, 450 motorcycles, โ‚ฆ6,495,900 and arrest of five suspects.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Henry Okoye, revealed that the breakthrough was achieved through a coordinated operation by the Commandโ€™s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
He added that N6,495,900, vehicle plate numbers, and other incriminating exhibits, including criminal charms, were also recovered from the suspectsโ€™ hideout
The Command further said the suspects allegedly attempted to bribe the operatives with N5 million, an offer that was rejected.
The police said the case was reported on April 6, following a distress call from one Chimeze Christian of Urata, Owerri North Local Government Area, who reported that his driver and vehicle had been missing.
Police operatives, acting on intelligence, traced the vehicle to a workshop in Orlu, where it was about to be repainted to conceal its identity.
Okoye said two suspects were arrested at the scene, while investigations led to the arrest of three others.

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has temporarily relieved the commanding officers of the affected commands along the Lagos-Seme border corridor of their duties following online reports alleging extortion by personnel of the service.
Nandap also ordered an immediate investigation into the incidents.
The service, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, on Friday, said Nandap โ€œunequivocally condemned the actions depicted in these reports, as such conduct is unacceptable and stands in direct violation of the core values, ethics, and operational standards of the Service.
The statement did not specify the number of officers suspended or identify the commands affected, but said the investigation was directed at identifying โ€œall officers involvedโ€ to ensure โ€œappropriate disciplinary measures are applied with immediate effect.
The Lagos-Seme corridor, which links Nigeria to the Republic of Benin at the Seme land border in Lagos State, is one of the busiest and most strategically significant entry and exit points in West Africa.
The route handles heavy volumes of commercial goods, cross-border traders, and travellers, and has long been a pressure point for complaints of harassment and extortion by border officials.
