A Woman!

Give a woman a rose for love,
And wait for your blossoms of respect.
Give a woman a dove for peace,
And await your bows and pecks.
Give a woman a warm embrace,
And await hugs; nice phrase

Hmm!
But, give a woman a stroke for 'correction',
And await tons of nasty expressions.
Wag a finger at a woman,
She wags a club in return.
Put an arrow through her love,
She detonates a bomb on your peace.

Anything your give a woman,
Expect it double.
That's just a woman;
Their life of funny trouble!

Soldiers

We break souls and hearts
Of bloody civilians
Khakis and skirts
Our check points cross the roads
And into the heart

Our job keep us away from our joys
The warmth of our tenderies
Where everywhere is our bed and board
We promise to keep a vow
To shield fatherland from all aggressions
In the rain or shine
We ,starved of tender love
We want to make up from the nearest skirt
For, our own skirts we no longer trust
They could be worn by some other trousers
Who knows?
Our skirts are not ours!
So, we borrow skirts wherever we go
To cushion the weight of the rifles

The life of a soldier: a vagabond on high paycheck
A husband without wife
A father without children
A rich man that sleeps outside

That's our life
Sequestered life
That wreaks of blood
And other women .

We Know The Matter.
It Wasn't So Much Of What He Said,
But Force Lived In His Manner.
How He Had It Said.
The Thin Matter Went A Long Way
By The Manner He Said What He Had To Say.
And It Stirred Our Hearts.
Memories Resurrected From Their Tombs.
They Stood Real Between Minds And Hearts.
What We Had Carried Unknown In Memory Wombs!
His Speech Gave Birth
And It Reinforced Our Faith!

Where Are The Hospitals?
False Claims In Capitals.
The Infirm Die More There
Wherein Destitute Care.

Goods In Thy Governments
That Brings Torments
U That Strain To Grasp The Sceptre,
Thy House On Fire
U That Bow To Thrones
Ur Loyalty Shouts In Drones
Of Your Mutiny
Upon Its Scrutiny.

Born Into This Destiny
When Death Usurped The Throne
Yet It Was Man's Mutiny
Though We Are Nt Alone
Jesus Came To Change The Story
And Restore Our Pristine Glory
This We Can't Pawn For Fun
Certain To Have Ere We Run.

INGRATITUDE
- A.G Awo -

Oh She?
Ingrate She Has Been
Clothed In The Splendour Of Ebony
She Covets A White Pigment
As If The Maker Is Unwise To Have Favoured Her So

She Has Ruled To Fight Her DNA
Bleaching Creams, Her Weapons Of War
Trying To Win, She Dermatroys
That Magnificent Adam's Suit
Yet No Whiter Than The Sun
Nor The Whites Whiter
But Palms Of Folly She Opens
And Her Whitened Garment
Crested In Purulent Ulcers
A Stinking Waterproof Of Skin!

You Pull The Trigger And Take The Bullet
Longing To Be Dermafine
You Betray Your Race And Maker
This Emblem Of Your Race You Divested
To Dun No Barge Of Recognition
Where Do You Belong- Black Or White?
Ingrate!

ASSASINATION

It Drips Nothing But Venom
Disguising As Honey
This Double-edged Sword
That Heals And Kills.

See How She Has Slain Me
Hacking Down Deep
Into The Protoplasm Of My Life
Snuffing The Candle Flame Of My Existence

She Sold Me Cheap To The World
Thirty Shekels Exchanged Hands
And My Dignity Sold
My Judas Is Come

What Did I Do?
That I Have It Is It A Crime?
That I Am Favoured,is It Worth My Blood?
That I Take The Bullet Of She That Pulls The Trigger!
And My Reward_ A Stab At The Back
I Fall And My Character Joined.
Assasination!

URINE DRIP

Let Not My Eyes See
These Skirts' Wee
It Torments My Nose
When They Do It Close

Tell Not My Ears Hear
That They Did It Here

Spare My Hands Feel Their Urine Drip
Worst Of Taste In My Vegesauce Sip

TRUE LOVE NEVER DIE
A flower once withered
Patch when drought alighted
It was but a stick
Naked was it
Not until the set of precipitation
In the form of dew it came
And it blossomed proudly
Lifting a bright yellow palm of praise
And when it poured
It spotted five colours
Waving hands of praise

When I became deserted of it
Love, the honey pool of the heart
Withered was I in heart
Your showers of affection
Irrigated my dry soul
Now, I breathe again
Now, I live again
Living by your undying love
A flower once withered
Awakes by splash of rain
True love never die!

Tell me, dear one,
When again resplendent your smile
My eyes laid rest awhile?

Again the susurration of your voice
My ears drink full with joys

Tell me, O dear
Now glide the silver moonshine
Show me your unfailing gesture
As usual in weather fine
Seasons past gone, now you're mine
Fantasizing when I grab your smooth texture.

DECADENCE
How badness has driven goodness
Farther into the wilderness!
This land is S***m and Gomorrah
Stench of its filth fill the earth
Thoughts have rotten like tomatoes
Good deed turned reeking carcasses
Where should the eyes focus?

There's water; we're thirsty;
We can't drink
Our girls are like ripe mangoes
Too pitted for eating
Our men make them two
Even before they are full-blown
They can't check their appetite anymore.
Our children's papers are not their effort
Our spent forces are abandoned horses

Does the crown know its destination?
All in decadence
How we've sunk into this depth of decadence!
Drowned deep at sea
Gone past all moral sense
Asplash beneath it all,
Where is the fish of Jonah?
Take us ashore to rectitude.
