Alumnus of the Month – June 2025
The Osun State University Alumni Association proudly celebrates Dr. Toyin Solomon Olaniyan as our Alumnus of the Month for June 2025 — a distinguished scholar, passionate mentor, and shining embodiment of excellence. A trailblazer from the very beginning, Dr. Olaniyan graduated with a B.Sc. in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management in 2011 with Second Class Upper Division, earning the title of Best Graduating Student with an impressive CGPA of 4.47/5.00. He also made history as the Pioneer President of the National Association of Human Resource Management Students at Osun State University, demonstrating early leadership that has since blossomed into a thriving academic and professional career.
Dr. Olaniyan’s educational pursuits reflect an unwavering commitment to academic growth and specialization. He obtained his M.Sc. in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management in 2015, followed by a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from Babcock University in 2018. His doctoral research introduced a groundbreaking model that connects HRM practices such as compensation and work-life balance to employee retention in Nigerian banks, offering powerful insights into the theory of job embeddedness and bridging key gaps in Africa-focused HRM literature.
Currently a Lecturer in the Department of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management at Osun State University, Dr. Olaniyan also serves as the Sub-Dean, Student Affairs at the College of Management and Social Sciences, Okuku Campus. His influence in academia transcends teaching, as he plays vital roles in student development, mentorship, and institutional administration. He has served as Examination Officer since 2020 and has twice been the Postgraduate Programme Coordinator, in addition to chairing strategic committees, including the Ad-hoc Investigation Committee for UNIOSUN Alumni Elections in 2022.
A prolific academic, Dr. Olaniyan has published over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, both locally and internationally, on critical Human Resource Management themes such as workplace incivility, employee retention, diversity, and conflict resolution. Notable among his recent publications are “Nexus between Workplace Incivility and Adaptive Performance” (Routledge, 2024), “Disability as a Diversity Factor in Recruiting” (Acta Politica Polonica, 2024), and “Conflict Management Strategies for Industrial Peace” (UNIOSUN, 2019). His research continues to drive dialogue and policy thinking in HRM, with a growing impact on African organizational systems.
Dr. Olaniyan is also actively involved in professional development and global knowledge exchange. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and is affiliated with the International Institute for Policy Review and Development Strategies. He has presented papers at over ten national and international conferences, including the Adeleke University AI Conference (2025), the Climate Change and Insecurity Conference (2024), and several Babcock University symposia. His service as a Protocol Officer, experience in NYSC, and commitment to research mentorship all contribute to a well-rounded, impactful career.
Beyond his academic accolades and professional achievements, Dr. Toyin Solomon Olaniyan is admired for his humility, collaborative spirit, and passion for student welfare. He is a dedicated mentor, a team player, and a vibrant contributor to institutional development and innovation. As a proud husband and father, he embodies the values of balance, purpose, and leadership. Today, we salute his accomplishments and proudly honor him as Osun State University Alumnus of the Month, June 2025 , a true inspiration to our alumni family and a beacon of excellence in the field of Human Resource Management.
