🔹 2023 | Tragédie sur la RN2
Un bus se renverse près de Ngueun Sarr, dans la région de Louga : 26 morts et une cinquantaine de blessés. Quelques mois plus tôt, en janvier, 19 personnes avaient péri dans une collision près de Sakal. La route nationale 2 devient l’emblème d’une urgence nationale.

🔹 2020 | Adieu à un pionnier des médias
Décès à Dakar de Babacar Touré, fondateur du Groupe Sud Communication et premier président du CNRA. Journaliste, homme d’affaires, bâtisseur d’institutions, il est aujourd’hui le parrain de la Maison de la Presse.

🔹 2019 | Mort en service commandé
Le commandant Tamsir Sané, de la brigade de Koumpentoum, est tué lors d’un échange de tirs avec des cambrioleurs. Deux des auteurs seront condamnés à la perpétuité en 2022. Un sacrifice pour la République.

🔹 2015 | Le pinceau s’éteint
Disparition de Papa Ibra Tall, maître de la peinture sénégalaise et ancien directeur des MSAD de Thiès. De Paris à Thiès, il a peint l’âme du pays avec éclat et exigence.

🔹 2009 | Yékini dompte Fass
Le stade Demba Diop vibre : Yékini bat Gris Bordeaux dans un combat très attendu. Un moment fort de la lutte sénégalaise, discipline miroir de la société.

🔹 2007 | Un discours qui clive
En visite officielle, Nicolas Sarkozy prononce à Dakar son fameux discours controversé : « Le drame de l’Afrique, c’est que l’homme africain n’est pas assez entré dans l’histoire. » Un propos encore largement débattu.

🔹 1958 | Mamadou Dia prend les commandes
Il est nommé Président du Conseil de gouvernement du Sénégal, prélude à sa confirmation après l’indépendance. Le technocrate rigoureux devient l’homme fort du Sénégal autonome.

🔹 1956 | La loi-cadre, au cœur du vent d’autonomie
Gaston Defferre arrive à Dakar. La loi-cadre du 23 juin 1956, portée par ce ministre, ouvre la voie à la décentralisation politique en Afrique française.

🔹 1821 | Gouvernance coloniale
Le baron Jacques-François Roger est nommé commandant du Sénégal. Il succède à Le Coupé, dans une époque de réorganisation coloniale.

🌟 Le fait mérite du jour
Babacar Touré, la presse comme mission
Fondateur du quotidien Sud, il a pensé le journalisme comme un contre-pouvoir citoyen. Visionnaire, pédagogue et militant du pluralisme médiatique, il a incarné l’indépendance d’esprit. Son décès en 2020 laisse un vide dans l’architecture démocratique du Sénégal.

→ En 2002, le journaliste Babacar Touré reçoit le titre de chevalier de la Légion d’honneur française.
→ En 1974, Papa Ibra Tall expose à la Biennale de Venise, rare présence africaine à l’époque.
→ Le combat Yékini vs. Gris Bordeaux du 26 juillet 2009 a rassemblé plus de 60 000 spectateurs, record battu seulement en 2014.

Cheikh Ibrahim Niass, dit Baye Niass, s’éteint à Londres. Grand érudit soufi, chantre du rapprochement islamique, maître spirituel d’envergure panafricaine, il laisse une communauté mondiale orpheline.
Son legs dépasse la Tijaniyya : il a bâti des ponts entre foi et modernité, Afrique et Orient.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the physical veiling of Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse (رضي الله عنه)
26th July 1975- 26th July 2025

Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse (رضي الله عنه) was veiled from this physical world on July 26th 1975 in St Thomas hospital London United Kingdom

Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse despite his veiling continues to permeate the hearts and souls of people to this very day. Millions from around the world flock to visit his maqam in Madina Baye, Senegal every year and there is not one day that goes by were crowds of people are not present in his maqam for visitation. The teachings of Shaykh Ibrahim live on and are as strong today as what they were in his unveiled state. He lives in the heart of every murid and has changed the lives of millions. Unforgettable to any soul whoever met him and I don't think there is a place in this world where his poetry is not recited. He is still a door to the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) and to Allah.

Baye is one of the renowned strong upholder of Islam and a true revival of the Sunnah.

And yet he still lives very much alive in the Hearts of the generation more than His physical Existence as each second of clock tickle on every day of the existence.

May Allah keep promoting, unfolding and uplifting the Karamah[Wonderment] and the Dominance of the Faydo[Path] of this renowned Sufi Master Maullannah Shehul Islam Alhaji Ibraheem Niasse

Shaykh Ibrahim (RTA) was educated primarily at the hands of his father, with full access to his father’s extensive library. Shaykh Ibrahim (RTA) mastered, at an early age, the full range of religious sciences; the Qur’an and its interpretation, the ahadits and their explanation, jurisprudence and Sufism.

Shaykh Ibrahim (RTA) said, “I learned Qur’an and ahadits first from my shaykh, my father, and he, from his father. I received an ‘ijazah first from my father in both Qur’an and ahadits, then from ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-‘Alawi, and another ‘ijazah from Shaykh Ahmad Sukayrij, who himself had earned some six hundred ‘ijazat from six hundred different shuyukh whose names are mentioned in his book, where he writes, ‘The first one to whom I gave authorisation in all these chains of transmission was the khalifah, al-Haj Ibrahim Niasse.’”
