I LOST 100 CHICKS BECAUSE OF THIS ONE MISTAKE😭🐣

Few weeks ago, I bought a thousand day-old chicks.
By day 5, I had lost 100

The problem? Brooding temperature.

It was cold at night and I didn’t notice.
The chicks huddled, got pneumonia, and started dying 😔

That day I learned that Brooding is not just the first few days
It’s the foundation of your entire batch.

Since then, my brooding rules:
1. Thermometer in the brooder 24/7 🌡️
2. Clean water + vitamins daily 💧
3. Dry litter always 📦
4. Check chicks every 3 hours 👀

Now my mortality in brooding is less than 2% 🙌

Don’t learn the hard way like I did.

THE BROODING STAGE: THIS IS WHERE YOU WIN OR LOSE🐣🌡️

Farmers, let’s talk about BROODING👇
Week 1 to Week 4 is the foundation of your entire batch.

Get it right = Strong birds, low mortality, good weight 💪
Get it wrong = Stunted birds, sickness, and money loss 📉

things you MUST get right during brooding

Heat🌡️🔥
Day-old chicks can’t regulate their body temperature.
Week 1: 32°C - 35°C
Reduce by 3°C every week.
Sign of problem:Chicks huddling = too cold. Chicks panting at edges = too hot.

Water💧
Clean, cool water 24/7. Add glucose + vitamins for the first 5 days.
Use marbles in drinkers for week 1 so chicks don’t drown.

Feed🌾
Use quality starter feed. Feed 24/7 for broilers.
Use chick trays + paper for the first 3 days so they learn to eat.
No feed = weak chicks = poor growth forever.

Space + Litter📦
Don’t overcrowd. 50 chicks per square meter in week 1.
Use dry wood shavings. Wet litter = ammonia + disease 🦠

Biosecurity + Observation👀
Vaccinate on time 💉
Check birds morning, afternoon, night.
Dead chicks? Remove immediately.
Noise? Lethargy? Droppings? All of it is telling you something.
