W/C (water closet) tank maintenance

Tip: Keep Your W/C Water Tank in Top Shape!💧🚽

Your toilet's water tank is a hard worker behind the scenes every single day — but when’s the last time you showed it some love and care?

Here’s a quick maintenance guide anyone can follow to keep their tank running smoothly and efficiently:

1. Check for Leaks
Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank — wait 15 mins. If it shows up in the bowl, your flapper might need replacing, and that’s a great opportunity to upgrade and save water.

2. Clean the Inside
Mineral buildup and grime can affect performance, so take some time to gently scrub the inside with vinegar and a sponge. Your tank will thank you!

3. Test the Fill Valve
Is your tank refilling too slowly or running constantly? Adjust or replace the fill valve to save water, stop the noise, and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your tank is running efficiently.

4. Flush Handle Feeling Loose?
It might just need a tightening, or you may need to replace the chain inside — an easy fix that can make a big difference in your daily life.

Do this every 6–12 months and get ready to enjoy smooth operation and fewer surprise repairs. You got this!

PPR (Polypropylene Random Copolymer) pipes and fittings are extensively utilized in plumbing, hot and cold water supply, heating systems, and compressed air networks.

Below is a list of common PPR fittings and their names:

Basic PPR Fittings

1. Coupler / Socket – Joins two pipes of the same diameter in a straight line.

2. Reducer Coupler – Joins two pipes of different diameters.

3. Elbow 90° – Changes pipe direction at 90°.

4. Elbow 45°– Changes pipe direction at 45°.

5. Reducer Elbow– Elbow that connects pipes of different diameters.

6. Tee – Connects three pipes of the same diameter in a T-shape.

7. Reducer Tee – Connects three pipes but with one outlet/inlet of a different diameter.

8.Cross Tee / Four-way– Connects four pipes at right angles.

Special Fittings

9. End Cap / Plug– Closes the end of a pipe.

10. Union – Connects two pipes but allows disconnection (for maintenance).

11. Adaptor (Male/Female Threaded)– Transition from PPR pipe to metal threaded connections.

12. Fl**ge (with adaptor)– For connecting to large valves, pumps, or flanged metal pipes.

13. Clamp Saddle – Allows branching connection from the middle of a pipe (used for irrigation and water supply).

Valves & Accessories

14. PPR Ball Valve– On/off control for water flow.

15. PPR Stop Valve – Controls water flow with adjustment.

16. PPR Check Valve– Prevents backflow.

17. PPR Filter (Strainer)– Filters impurities in the pipeline.

Transition Fittings

18. Metal-PPR Transition Fitting– PPR fused with brass inserts for connecting to metal pipes or fixtures.

19.Socket with Brass Thread (Male/Female) – For connecting taps, pumps, or threaded accessories.

PPR fittings are usually joined by heat fusion welding (using a fusion welding machine), making the joints leak-proof and durable.

A snake can end up inside a W/C (toilet) for a few main reasons, and it’s usually not because it “lives” there permanently — it’s more about access routes and environment, and by understanding these reasons, you can take proactive steps to prevent unwanted visits and create a safer space for yourself and your loved ones. 1. Through the sewer or drain pipes

* In some areas, especially warm climates, snakes can enter through cracked or open sewer pipes, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance and inspections.
* If the sewer network connects to open drains or bodies of water nearby, snakes can follow the pipe in search of frogs, rats, or other small prey, reminding us of the interconnectedness of our ecosystem.
* Since the toilet’s S-trap or P-trap is always filled with water, it usually acts as a barrier — but a determined snake can push through, encouraging us to be proactive in preventing such occurrences.

2. Through the roof vent pipe

* Every plumbing system has a vertical vent pipe (vent stack) that sticks out of the roof to let sewer gases escape, and by installing a fine mesh screen, you can prevent snakes from entering through this route.
* A snake could climb a tree, drop onto the roof, and enter through that vent. From there, it can reach the toilet bowl, emphasizing the need for vigilance and preventive measures.

3. Through gaps or poor sealing

* In rural or poorly sealed bathrooms, snakes might get in through openings where the toilet connects to the floor or wall, highlighting the importance of regular inspections and maintenance.

4. Attracted by prey or moisture

* Toilets and bathrooms are cool, damp places, and if there’s a rodent, frog, or insect problem, snakes might follow their food source inside, reminding us of the importance of maintaining a clean and pest-free environment.

Prevention tips as a plumber would recommend:

* Install a fine mesh screen on your roof vent pipe, a simple yet effective way to prevent snake invasions.
* Keep toilet lids closed, especially in areas with known snake issues, a habit that can help prevent unwanted visits.
* Inspect and repair any cracks or gaps in waste pipes, ensuring that your plumbing system is secure and snake-free.
* Maintain pest control to avoid attracting the snake’s food source, a proactive step in preventing snake encounters.
