The strength of any society lies in the commitment of its workforce. From the civil service to private enterprise, from the farms to the classrooms, from our markets to our hospitals you are the backbone of our development journey. Your daily sacrifices, often made under challenging conditions, are not unnoticed.

As we mark this day, I urge us to reflect on the value of dignity in labour, and to continue to strive with unity, integrity, and hope for a better tomorrow. Let us remain steadfast in the belief that with visionary leadership and collective effort, Imo State can rise to fulfill its true potential.

This comes just a few days after Donald Trump cut off all funding from the US to South Africa and the USAID to South Africa 🥶

The South African government catherigorically made it clear to Trump that America is nothing without minerals from Africa and if he thinks Africans are nothing but mere beggars, then he should go look for minerals elsewhere because Africa is tired of the blatant d8srespect and disregard they keep getting from the Western world 🌍💪

The US makes over $25-billion in profits from South Africa annually. This is gonna affect both the American and South African economy very badly 😩

No African country has ever stood up agaînst the United States like this 🙌

Orsu Indigenes Seek Urgent Military Action to End Violence

Indigenes of Orsu Local Government Area (LGA) in Imo State have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of Army Staff, and Governor Hope Uzodimma for immediate military intervention to end years of escalating violence.

Under the Odimma Orsu Initiative, a coalition of businessmen, professionals, and community leaders, they held a press conference in Lagos, revealing that over 5,000 lives have been lost and thousands displaced due to criminal activities in the region.

Chairman of the group, High Chief Chukwudi Okparaku, urged the military to launch sustained operations to reclaim Udeke Valley and its surroundings, which he identified as strongholds for criminal elements, including alleged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). He also called for additional security bases, equipping local vigilantes, and installing surveillance cameras in key areas.

“Our communities have become mass graves. We are tired of living in fear and want our lives back,” Okparaku lamented.

Deputy Chairman Onyeoma Ezeifedi commended security agencies for their efforts but insisted on more aggressive action. He also praised Orsu LGA Chairman, Hon. Friday Ibekeme, for imposing a dusk-to-dawn curfew to curb violence.

“We appreciate the efforts, but these criminal enclaves must be dismantled to restore lasting peace,” Ezeifedi stated.

The group insists that only sustained security measures can ensure Orsu's safety and stability.

3,690 Nigerians at Risk of Deportation Amid Trump’s Immigration Crackdown

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified efforts to deport non-citizens as part of his broader crackdown on illegal immigration, putting 3,690 Nigerians in the U.S. at risk of removal.

A document obtained by our correspondent, compiled by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), highlights the number of non-citizens facing deportation by country of origin. As of November 24, 2024, ICE’s non-detained docket listed 1,445,549 individuals with final removal orders.

The document, titled Noncitizens on the ICE Non-Detained Docket with Final Orders of Removal by Country of Citizenship, shows Mexico and El Salvador leading the list, with 252,044 and 203,822 individuals, respectively. Nigeria, with 3,690 people, is among the countries with a significant number of deportation cases.

ICE is tasked with protecting national security by addressing illegal immigration and cross-border crime. Reports suggest that Nigerians, along with other African immigrants, may soon face increased deportation efforts as Trump’s administration amplifies its campaign to remove undocumented individuals. These developments have sparked widespread fear among Nigerian nationals living in the U.S. without legal status.

Trump has consistently emphasized stricter immigration policies. On his first day as the 47th President, he issued executive orders aimed at ending birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants, tightening border security, and deploying additional troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.

In line with his administration’s zero-tolerance approach, Trump has prioritized the removal of “criminal aliens,” with mass deportation operations leading to hundreds of arrests. His immigration strategy underscores his commitment to enforcing U.S. immigration laws more aggressively.
