It appears that the Nigerian military and other ECOWAS countries are gearing up for a military confrontation with Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Niger. Unfortunately, it seems that Nigeria will be the battleground. I urge someone to implore ECOWAS and ECOMOG to prioritize dialogue rather than resorting to force. It seems as though these nations are fully prepared for conflict, but it's important to note that Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Chad successfully expelled Boko Haram and other Islamic militants from their territories. Meanwhile, Nigeria has been unable to defeat Boko Haram for 14 years. I kindly request that Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Guinea be mindful of where they launch their attack in Nigeria.

The first issue is issue No. B, has to do with the complaint by the petitioners of non-compliance with the Provisions of the electoral Act. The essence of the complaint is with technology introduced by the 1st Respondent, the rationale seems to be appreciated by the petitioners, however, the misunderstood the technologies. The BVaS was used for accreditation and transmitting of results. The IREV Portal is a result viewing portal. Court dismisses EFCC’s suit against Okorocha

A suit by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against a former governor of Imo State Senator Rochas Okorocha has been dismissed by the court.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court has dismissed the case and described the EFCC’s charges of fraud and abuse of office against Okorocha as an abuse of judicial process.

Justice Yusuf Halilu premised his judgement on the fact that the EFCC had filed a similar charge against the former Imo State governor at the Federal high court, which case was decided upon in favour of the former governor in December last year.

APC governors, FG working to address hardship faced by Nigerians – Uzodinma

The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) has said that it is working with the Federal Government to address the current hardship being faced by Nigerians, following the removal of fuel subsidy and the increase in petroleum pump price.

Gov. Hope Uzordimma of Imo and Chairman of the forum said this while addressing speaking newsmen at the end of its closed-door meeting which ended last Wednesday night in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PGF is an umbrella body of state governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

Uzordinma described the meeting as successful, saying it discussed ongoings in the part and other national issues.

“The current hardship occasioned by the price increase on both food, petroleum products and cost of living is being addressed.

“The sub national government is working with the Federal Government to address the development,”Uzordinma said.

He added that the National Executive Council (NEC) would discuss further on how to address the development to lessen the burden on the citizenry when it meets.

The PGF chairman assured that the governors would effectively utilise their federal allocation in the best interest of the people.

He said the governors would also ensure that the country’s economy was protected and our sovereign margin was not tempered with in the international market but improve upon.

Uzordinma said the governors received in good faith, the recent resignation of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s National Chairman and Sen. Iyola Omisore, iNational Secretary, saying their resignation was voluntary.

He added that the governors respect their actions and commend their wisdom, saying they had done well and served the party well.

“We are happy with their services and they are happy too;we are in support of their actions and they would continue to be commended.

WHY DEMBELE WANTS TO LEAVE BARCA FOR PSG.

Ousmane Dembele was keen to discuss a new contract with Barcelona ahead of his current deal expiring in 2024; Paris Saint-Germain earmarked Dembele as Kylian Mbappe's replacement after they decided to sell him; Dembele feels Barca haven't made a strong enough attempt to keep him

Ousmane Dembele made no secret only a month ago that he was happy at Barcelona, but now he wants to leave for Paris Saint-Germain.

Dembele, who signed for Barca in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for ÂŁ135m, was keen to discuss a new contract with the club ahead of his current deal expiring in 2024.

The 26-year-old told Marca in June: "I don't know why there's been so much talk about PSG. It must be because I'm French.

It's going very well. Barcelona want me to renew until 2027, and my representative will talk to them. I am happy at the team, also at home, in Barcelona. So we'll see what happens."

Since, however, Sky Sports News understands there has not been a lot of progress over this extension and, in the meantime, the dynamics at both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have shifted.

Most decisively, PSG decided to sell Kylian Mbappe after the player made it clear he would not extend his contract there and earmarked Dembele as his replacement.

PSG are understood to have made strong overtures towards Dembele while the Mbappe saga was rumbling on, with manager Luis Enrique seeing Dembele as the ideal successor.

At the same time, Barcelona are understood to have been one of the clubs that made a move for Mbappe, attempting to give PSG the solution they were looking for to get him off their books.

And from this, rumours are believed to have reached Dembele that have unsettled him - rumours that he was one of two names proposed to PSG as part of a potential deal.

Press Statement

March 18: APC Has No Governorship Candidate in Taraba State - PDP
…Charges INEC to Be Guided by Supreme Court Judgment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no validly nominated candidate for the rescheduled Saturday March 18, 2023 governorship election in Taraba State in line with the Judgement of the Supreme Court delivered on February 1, 2023 in suit No SC/CV/1564/2022.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the good people of Taraba State and the general public are invited to note that the import of the judgement of the Supreme Court is to the effect that the APC cannot validly field a candidate in the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Taraba State, having failed to comply with the mandatory provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 with regards to the conduct of its governorship primary in Taraba State.

Specifically, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the provision of Section 84 (13) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which provides that;

“Where a political party fails to comply with the provisions of this Act in the conduct of its primaries, its candidate for election shall not be included in the election for the particular position in issue”

In the words of the Supreme Court, “Section 84 (13) of the Electoral Act is quite clear on the effect of failure to comply with the provisions of the Act and the Guideline of a Political Party in the selection or nomination of a candidate for election. Its Candidate shall not be included in the election for the particular position in issue”.

The implication of the Supreme Court’s Judgment therefore is that INEC is effectively restrained from accepting or recognizing any governorship candidate from the APC for the March 18, 2023 Governorship election in Taraba State.

INEC must therefore be guided by the hierarchy of courts in Nigeria and the finality of the pronouncements in the Judgment of the Supreme Court on any issue or subj
