By Comrade John Paul Asoque, May 20, 2025
The Biafra Internal Government paid glowing tribute to the former and first Prime Minister of the Biafra Internal Government, Dr. Lambert Obikaizu, as he laid his beloved mother, Late Mrs. Cecilia Obikaizu, to rest at her husband's compound in Okporo Akatta on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Despite heavy rainfall and transportation challenges, Biafra loyalists turned out in massive numbers to console and stand in solidarity with Dr. Obikaizu—a distinguished freedom fighter, scholar, and current chairman of Homeland University, Okwe Building Community.
Late Mrs. Cecilia Obikaizu, who passed on at the age of 93, was remembered for a life well-lived, having been a pillar of strength to her family and community.
The BIG delegation was led by the 6th Prime Minister of the Biafra Internal Government, Her Excellency Elder Virginia Uberzuonu, who delivered a moving condolence message on behalf of Chief Dr. Ralph Uwazurike and the entire Biafra national Council. She expressed heartfelt sympathy and encouraged the Obikaizu family to take heart, praying for God’s grace, unity, and protection upon them.
Other dignitaries present included Chief Emma Ejiaga, Chairman of the Elders in Council; Comrade Ijeomah Anthony, Minister of Information; Comrade Mentus Ngwoke, Minister of Records and Statistics; Justice Vincent Ilogbenu, former Chief Justice and current Chief Minister of Anambra South State; Mazi Michael Ijeomah, Mrs. Nkechi Ajunwa, 4th Speaker of Parliament; Minister of Orlu State; Dr. Linus Ohajianya, Chief Minister of Okigwe State; and Comrade Emma Nnadi, Special Adviser to BIM-MASSOB, among many others from the regional administrations and Elders Council.
In his heartfelt response, Dr. Lambert Obikaizu appreciated the overwhelming show of love, loyalty, and solidarity from the national BIG, describing their presence as a testimony of the undying spirit of Biafra. He prayed for divine blessings upon the leadership and faithful members of BIM-MASSOB and reaffirmed his commitment to the peaceful restoration of Biafra.
The ceremony was ignited with revolutionary Biafran gyration songs rendered by Comrade Sunday Nwabuisi, National Media Head of BIM-MASSOB, creating an emotional yet empowering atmosphere.
Late Mrs. Cecilia Obikaizu’s burial not only marked the passing of a matriarch but also became a symbol of unity, honour, and continued resilience in the Biafran liberation movement.
May her soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.
