He described the narrative as false and misleading, emphasizing that no government agency has the authority to deduct money from bank accounts without a court order.

Oyedele explained that confusion arose from the recent consolidation of tax laws, clarifying that the government’s only recourse for recovering unpaid taxes is a lengthy process that requires judicial approval. He also dismissed fears about banks reporting all transactions, stating that the reporting threshold has been raised from ₦10 million to ₦25 million, meaning only businesses with substantial turnover are affected.

He urged Nigerians to ignore the panic and rely on verified information, warning that misinformation could destabilize the economy.
