THE MINISTRY OF THE SPIRIT.| JOHN G LAKE

In my church in South Africa, we published a paper in 10,000 lots. We would have the printers send them to the church, and we would lay them out on the front platform in packages of 100 and 200. At the evening service, I would call certain people from the congregation (that I knew to be in contact with the living God) to come and kneel around the packages and lay their hands on them.

We asked God to not only bless the reading matter in the paper that the message of Christ should come through the words printed on the paper but that the paper itself becomes filled with the Spirit of God, just as the handkerchiefs became filled with the power of God. (Acts 19:12.)

I could show you thousands of letters from people in all parts of the world, telling me that the Spirit of God came upon them when they received our paper. Not only were they healed, but the joy of God came into their hearts and many were saved.

One woman wrote from South America: "I received your paper. When I took it into my hands, my body began to vibrate so, I could hardly sit on the chair. I did not understand it. I laid the paper down, and after a while took it up again. As soon as I had it in my hands, I shook again. The third time I picked up the paper, the Spirit of God came upon me so powerfully, I was baptized in the Holy Ghost."

Beloved, do you see that this message and this quality of the Spirit contains the thing that confuses all the philosophers and all the practice of philosophy in the world? It shows the clearest distinction, which characterizes the real religion of Jesus Christ. It is distinct from all other religions and all other ministries
The ministry of Christianity is the ministry of the Spirit. It is the Spirit of God that inhabits the words, that speaks to the spirit of another, and reveals Christ in and through him.

John Wesley tells of a dream he had. In the dream, he was ushered to the gates of Hell. There he asked, "Are there any Presbyterians here?" "Yes!", came the answer. Then he asked, "Are there any Baptists? Any Episcopalians? Any Methodists?" The answer was Yes! each time. Much distressed, Wesley was then ushered to the gates of Heaven. There he asked the same question, and the answer was No! "No?" To this, Wesley asked, "Who then is inside?" The answer came back, "There are only Christians here."

“Do you know why prayer is so unpopular in the churches today? You can advertise a musical group and pack the church. You can even sell tickets at the door, and people will buy them. But it’s hard to fill the front row for prayer meeting on Wednesday night! Why?

Prayer seems like a waste of time, because so many people never get an answer.
It shouldn't be! Jesus said, "Ask, and ye shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you!"

Do you know what I like best about His promise? He went on to say, "Every one that asketh receiveth, and to every one that knocketh it shall be opened!”

I don't know how many times I depend on that! I love to pray.
If people believed that they would get answers when they pray, they would jam the prayer meetings, every time a prayer meeting was called. Look again at God's promise. Not one out of ten times. Not four out of five times!
"Every one that asketh receiveth!”

The Kind Of Man You Shouldn't Marry-- Myles Munroe
-----------
God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden. The word "Eden" is a complicated word in Hebrew. Eden was not referring to garden of trees, even if they were in that environment... it was referring to order!

The word "Eden" means spot..

It means delightful spot...

It means open door..

Is a spot on earth for the moment where God has open door from heaven on earth. That's where God put the man "In His presence". That's why we can't find Eden today. Eden is not a place, Eden is an environment.

Eden is an atmosphere, it is the presence of God..

So, when man sin, the Bible says, God drove them from the atmosphere(garden of Eden) and the atmosphere went back up to heaven.

When God made the first male, He put him in His presence. ..

The first thing God gave a man was His presence. So, the first thing a man need is not a woma. The most important thing a man need is the presence of God. And a woman should meet you in the presence of God.

Some women amazed me, they leave the presence of God, going to the bush to find a brother and then, try to drag him back to the presence of God...

The next thing God told the man is "work"

God gave man and work before a woman. That means a man need a job before he gets a woman.

The third thing God told the man is "cultivate"

Cultivate means to bring out the best in everything around you, to maximise the potential of everything around you, to make everything fruitful.... He only said that to the male! That's why God will never give a male a finished woman.

The male was created by God to create what he wants... the woman you are looking for doesn't exist, she is in your head. Your job is to take the raw material you marry and cultivate it to the woman in your head.

So, you being married for 25years and still don't like the product you get, that's your fault... Jesus said, husband love your wife like I love my wife.. now He tells us how He do it: He said;

He wash her with the word..

He remove every spot, wrinkle, blemish and present her to yourself.

If your wife is putting on weight and you don't like the fact that she is putting on weight, don't criticise her.. wake up and take her for jogging.

She can't speak good English, take her to take and pay for the tuition..

The fourth thing God told the man is "guard the garden"

The male is supposed to be the protector. That's why God gave you a stronger bone frame, a bigger muscle max, not to abuse the woman but to protect the woma.

The last thing God gave the man is "His Word"

God said, Adam do not touch the tree. God never told the woman about the tree. Which means the male was the only one who got the word of God. His job was to teach his wife the word of God.

Then lastly, God said, it is not good for this man to be alone... which man?

The man who is in His presence...

Working..

Can cultivate you..

Can teach you the word..

Can protect you..

So, here is the problem... if you meet a man;

Who don't like His presence...

Ain't working..

Can't cultivate and improve you..

Can't protect you and don't know God's Word..

It is good for that man to be alone!!!

God bless you as you like and follow us for more.

HOW DO I DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN MY THOUGHTS AND THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?

This has been the question of so many believers.
This is so because, even though we are born again, we are still humans. I pray that as you read, God Himself will give you understanding in Jesus name, Amen.

Now, there are so many ways by which God speaks to us as children of God. Some of them are: the written Word of God, inner witness of the Holy Spirit, dreams, visions, trance, prophecies, through servants of God, etc. God speaks to us in different ways. But constantly, God speaks to us through His written Word.

When we are ignorant of the written Word of God, it will be very hard for us to discover most times when and what God is saying through other medium of communication to us. His written Word is the true foundation for understanding God's speakings.
In Colossians chapter 3 verse 16, the scripture says "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with Grace in your hearts to the Lord." When the Word of God dwells in us richly, our mind is renewed, and only then can we actually think the thoughts of God. For the scripture says in Isaiah chapter 55 verse 8 that "for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD."

Haven said that, let's go back to our question: how do I differentiate between my thoughts and the voice of the Holy Spirit?

Now, what is are "thoughts"?
Thoughts are simply forms created in the mind. It also mean a way of thinking.

Haven said that, let me quickly tell you that there are three major kinds of thoughts (I personally classified them this way). They are:
1. Sinful thoughts
-Satan inspired thoughts
-Self-motivated thoughts
2. Normal human reasoning.
(Not sinful yet not inspired by the Spirit of God)
3. Holy thoughts
(These are Spirit inspired thoughts.)

God most times speaks to his children through their mind because, he is dwelling in us.
But, the problem is that most times we can't differenciate number two and three (normal thoughts and Holy thoughts).

I remember when God wanted me to relocate to a new place in school. Before then, I had made a decision to continue there till my final year. But when that session was about rounding up, one night I went to bed after spending some hours in prayers, but I couldn't sleep. All of a sudden, I began to think about my previous decision I made to continue there. It was then I began to see reasons to relocate to a new place. The Spirit of God began to take my mind into so many things. It was then I made a new decision to relocate. And thank God I obeyed Him, because I later saw what would have happened displayed months after I relocated.

But you have to understand that before God could comfortably speak to me through my thoughts, He had aligned my spirit and mind in the place of prayer. That was why I could pick the those signals from God.

Prayer aligns you into the will of God. Prayer makes you yield to the Holy Ghost. Prayer clears doubts and amplifies the voice of the Spirit of God in your heart.

Before Jesus started His earthly ministry at the age of 30, He had to seek the face of God with fasting for 40 days and 40 nights. What do you think He was doing? He was aligning Himself into the will of God the Father through prayers. At that point, His Fathers thoughts became His thoughts too. His Father's will became also His will. And God had to empower Him to go and do His will. Not only that, before he chose His twelve disciples, He spent a whole night praying. The bible said, he prayed all night. At that point, He couldn't make a wrong decision. He had been aligned into the will of God. His Father's thoughts were now His thoughts. Jesus always had that habit of separating Himself in the place of prayer in other to align Himself into the will of God. No wonder all His utterances were as though the Father Himself was speaking. He was always connected to Heaven 24/7.

Prayer and studying of the word of God prepares your mind to receive clearly from the Spirit of God. It is in the place of prayer and meditation on the word of God that we get real burdens from the heart of the Father.

Below are some of the characteristics of God's speakings in your heart/mind:
1. God's voice most times is authoritative. (Remember Philip and the Ethiopian Eu**ch)
2. When God speaks to you, most times it can only take obedience to restore peace to your heart.
3. God's voice never contradicts His written Word.
4. God's speakings gets clearer and clearer with time. Whenever you are not sure if it's really God that spoke, just prayerfully give it time. You need to be patient because, God's speakings most times is prophetic in nature. Most times, He ..."calleth those things which be not as though they were." Romans 4:17.
In the realm of God, there is no future, everything happens now. It's only man that has a future. And so, God can tell you that you have a car when you haven't even seen money to eat for that time. That's God for you.
5. God confirms what He tells you. When. God speaks to you on something, most times, God will still use another means to confirm what He told you earlier. Sometimes He may use any of His servants available. It can just be a casual discussion and you will be surprised he/she will just emphasize on that particular point.
6. God's speakings are most times instructions. God doesn't use suggestions. You see, God is and instructor. He doesn't suggest. Most times Satan and your mind are the ones that use suggestions, and those suggestions are what actually brings confusion. God is not the author of confusion!
7. The end product of God's speakings is faith and not fear.
God doesn't put fear in any of His children. Fear is never from God.

Before I conclude, let me quickly show you what God told me years ago:
1. "Any spirit that confesseth I,I, me,me, my,my, is not of me."
It took me years to understand those words. Well, it can be applied to the above question. It simply means that it's self-centered.
2. "The devil speaks with strife."
It took me time to understand this too. You would notice that from Genesis where satan asked Eve "Has God said...?" and from the temptations of Jesus Christ in the wilderness where he said to Jesus "If thou be the Son of God..." He was debating against the spoken word of God. That's what he does. He strifes with both the written and spoken Word of God.
But I must warn you beloved, Satan can still use the known word of God to deceive man. That's why we must study the Word of God and ask God for the spirit of DISCERNMENT. If the devil could deceive the one-third angels of God in Heaven, brethren we must watch and pray lest we be deceived also.
3. "Depend on Me. Don't depend on your little strength..."
These were the words the Holy Ghost spoke to me few years ago.
While Jesus was on earth, He gave Himself to prayer. That's why He overcame that wicked one.

Brethren, depend on God. Don't even depend on your hearts/thoughts. For the heart of man is deceitful, so says the scripture. Don't depend on your understanding. Depend on the Spirit of God.
To depend on the Spirit of God simply means that you acknowledge Him in all things, call upon Him in prayer continually, let the Spirit of God help you to pray and put your faith in the Word of God.

I must submit to you all that God is helping me in these things too.

Glory and honour be unto our God forever, Amen.

A MISSIONARY HERO
David Livingstone went to Africa as a missionary to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and to open the interior to both Christianity and commerce. Time and his passions transformed him into more of an explorer, but he always sought to glorify God in his explorations. Some have said that Livingstone’s obsession made him reckless and even insane. His reply to his critics was always, “Remember us in your prayers that we grow not weary in well doing. It is hard to work for years with pure motives, and all the time be looked upon by most of those to whom our lives are devoted as having some sinister object in view....We should have grace to follow in Christ’s steps.”

David Livingstone was certainly driven, in spite of grave illness, to press on in his work until he died upon his knees before his Savior. But the Lord protected him and led him through many dangers, and, in the end, used him mightily to help put an end to the horrific slave trade in Africa and to open the continent to the gospel of Jesus Christ for thousands of dedicated Christian missionaries who would come after him.

Above all else, David Livingstone was a man who made a difference: He transformed the continent of Africa. His iron will and his tenacity to endure beyond his own strength has provided a role model for Christian missionaries for the last one hundred fifty years.
David Livingstone is still honored in the Africa he loved.

In Chief Chitambo’s village in Zambia, there is the Livingstone Memorial, marking the site of his death. The cities of Livingstone in Zambia and Livingstonia in Malawi still proudly bear his name. A life-sized bronze statue of Livingstone stands overlooking the world’s largest waterfall, Victoria Falls, in Zimbabwe.
Years before his death, when Livingstone was asked by his brother, Charles, to leave Africa, his reply was clear: “I am a missionary, heart and soul. God had an only Son, and He was a missionary and a physician. I am a poor, poor imitation of Him, or wish to be. But in this service I hope to live; in it I wish to die!”

Every one of Miss Kuhlman's service were orderly and she would halt anyone who began to shout, prophesy or speak in tongues during one of her services. To her it was an intrusion
on what God was trying to do. "The Holy Spirit is a gentleman," she would say. "He does things decently and in order. When He is speaking through me, He will not interrupt Himself
by speaking through someone else."

In her book Glimpse into Glory, she wrote, "I cannot afford to go where there is fanaticism. I have too much at stake. I have a responsibility
to God." And she added, "You know, I think sometimes the world gets the idea the only people who believe in the power of God are senile women and men who are not too intelligent. All the screaming and carrying
on . . . Believe me, if I was being introduced to the Holy Spirit for the very first time in a meeting like that, I'd take for the tall timbers and I'd never come back. We need an old-fashioned baptism of good common sense."

Her rules may have not been understood by some Pentecostals, yet in her meetings were Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholics, people from
virtually every Protestant denomination—and those who had never darkened the door of a church. She was sensitive to their.backgrounds.

"THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A
GENTLEMAN," SHE WOULD
SAY. "HE DOES THINGS
DECENTLY AND IN ORDER."

There is a faith that rejects!
You may wonder "how?"

In Hebrews chapter 11 verse 24, the scripture says: "By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of pharaoh's daughter;"

This was an opportunity I believe everyone in Egypt craved for, yet a man by faith rejected it because his destiny and the destiny of his people was more important to him than that.

Remember Daniel, a captive in a strange land who was given the opportunity to eat what the King himself was eating in Babylon. Those days, the king of Babylon was like the world ruler. Yet, a man rejected what was very rare. Even endangering his life by calling the king's meat defilement.

So many believers today think faith is all about receiving. That's not true beloved. There is a dimension of faith that rejects what others are craving for. What others many not see as sin, convicted of the Holy Spirit, we must reject.

What are some of the things we must reject today as Christians?:
1. We must reject worldly music. It corrupts the soul.
2. We must reject worldly attire.
3. We must reject bad company.
4. We must reject any gift (promotion, power, prosperity, etc) from the devil.
He is only after your soul.
5. We must reject bribery and corruption. Etc.

Anytime the devil offers you an opportunity so rare, just know that he is after your destiny.
Jesus rejected his offer in the wilderness of temptation.
You too can reject whatsoever offer he is bringing your way.

The LORD bless you.

07/08/2024

I wondered what God did to Joseph that made him to forgive his brethren. Such wickedness, it can only take the Grace of God to forgive them. Some persons think it's easy to forgive. The scar of his slavery and betrayal, the emotional trauma and the separation from his loved ones as a teenager isn't a small thing.
As believers, we should examine our lives and cease from hurting people and not just seeking for forgiveness all the time. In the other hand, we should also learn from Joseph and forgive, no matter what happened in the past.
God is a Master in turning all odds to our favour. Amen.

HOLINESS (THE ULTIMATE FLIGHT'S PASSPORT)
BY BRO Gbile AKANNII
I am to connect a flight to Manchester from an airport but while waiting for my flight to be called I came across a brother who I knew back in Nigeria who was too glad to see me for he has been under my ministration many times. We discussed nearly everything until our flight was called.
The brother got ready his papers and passport but as to my own passport I could not locate it. I searched frantically without success. After sometime the brother had to leave me and commend me to the grace of God to help me find my passport. I ran to the counter, explained what happened to them and asked that they should delay the flight a little so that I can locate my passport because of the crucial preaching appointment i have but they declined.
I watched my friend board the flight and I watched the plane go.Despite the fact that my friend was my disciple, he boarded the flight but I could not. My friend as well as some others in the airport has lots of respect for me because they recognise me as a great man of God yet there is little they could do to help my situation. I have so many other and necessary papers intact but without the passport the authorities would not allow me board the flight.
The theme being considered at the convention of Methodist church Nigeria rounding up today 19-01-18 in which Bro gbile Akanni is the main speaker is taken from Heb.12:14- Make every effort to live in peacewith all men and to be holy, without holiness no one will see the Lord.
The passport issue came about while Bro. gbile was explaining the words 'whithout which'.The passport to entering heaven is Holiness. Your status, wealth, position, degree or what have you does not count here. Some pastors would be left behind while people that came to know God through themwould enter the kingdom of God.
Some people are majoring in the minor while leaving the most important unattended to. You can score allAs in all other subjects but with F9 in English and Mathematics, no Nigerian University will admit you.The airport authorities has a standard which will not be compromised for anybody. Once you are not qualified you are disqualified. You still have opportunity now to get ready for the ultimate flight, once you die or the trumpet sounds, no matter how frantic your efforts are, you will still have to face the consequence of your negligence.
I wonder what else would be important to an international traveller other than the passport. Your passport to heaven is Holiness you better do all you can now to locate it if you have misplaced it else you regret ever coming to the world. On the long run, I was able to locate the passport where I dropped it when packing other things.
The booking lady rebuked me sharply for being so careless and I think I deserve it. Anyway, I asked them to help me check if there would soon be another flight going my route and I was lucky there is. But what if the one I missed was the last flight or if the next flight has been fully booked. After the incidence, Bro gbile learnt to treasure his passport dearly and to hold it.
This is an extract from the sermon of Bro gbile Akanni at 2018convention held at Ikotekpene.
"Had I know" would not be your portion at the end in Jesus name.
Please locate your passport now and treasure it dearly. Your flight may be announced any moment!
PLEASE SHARE THIS POST AS MUCH AS YOU CAN TO SAVE SOULS OUT THERE!
