Ephesians 4
BE YE KIND
Eph. 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
As a child of God, there are several qualities that have been deposited inside you that needs to find expression in your life.
There are things that we are asked not to do because they are not consistent with our nature as New Creations. For instance, we read in verse 32, “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.”
Bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, evil speaking… these things are not consistent with your nature as a child of God. As a result, practicing them will be to your disadvantage.
But then we are told in our text today to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven us. What a blessing! These things are consistent with our nature as New Creations. They are consistent with who we are in Christ. As a result, we are to practice these things lavishly in our relationships.
Now note the first of these: be kind to one another. The Greek Word translated kind is “crestos”. It means kind, good, gracious, and easy. We are to be kind to one another. We are to be good to one another. We are to be gracious to one another. And we are to be easy to one another. There is no reason to be hard and difficult in life towards one another as Brethren in Christ. Matthew 11:30 says, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” His yoke is easy. The word translated easy is the same word for kind.
Don’t be a difficult wife, don’t be a difficult husband. Don’t be a difficult child to your parents. Don’t be a difficult parent to your children. Don’t be a difficult pastor to your members. Don’t be a difficult church member to your pastor.
Be an easy person to other Believers. Be kind to other Believers! God will honor you as you honor His word!
Great days are here! Days of the Word!
To the very ends of the earth,
God bless you richly with great grace and many blessings.
