ENUGU LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN APPOINTS S.A ON GARDEN EGG AND PEPPER;

There has been mixed reactions on and off-line following the appointment of Mr Nwodo Everestus Ogbonna , as the senior special Assistant to the Local Government Chairman on Agriculture ( Garden egg and pepper ) by Hon. Doc. Eric Og onna Odo, who is the Executive Chairman of Igbo Etiti L.G.A. ,Enugu state.

CHIDIMMA WINS SECOND RUNNER -UP AT MISS UNIVERSE ;

Enugu State Ambassador, and current Miss Nigeria , Chidimma Onwe Adetshina have triumphed over almost 300 Hundred contestants from around the world to emerge as the first -runner up at the just concluded 2024 Miss Universe.
This victory is coming few months after she suffered xenophobic attack in south -Africa, and was forced to step down from the 2024 Miss South-Africa contest, despite being a citizen of the country too .

ENUGU POLICE RELEASE PHOTO OF POLICE OFFICER WHO KILLED OGHENE MUSICIAN ,IGBO-JAH;

Enugu Police release photos of Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph , who killed male traditional Ogene musician, Okezie Chikezie Mba, popularly known as Igbo-Jah.

According to them, the musician was reportedly leaving the Squad’s Headquarters after a friendly visit when, for reasons yet to be known , Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph, fired his rifle, hitting the victim on October 25. The musician was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed de@d by the attending doctor. Ndukwe said his body has been deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

NATIVE DOCTOR ARRESTED FOR BURYING MAN ALIVE IN ENUGU;

The Enugu State Police Command have arrested a native doctor, one Enuwa Odugu “m”, aged 48, and Uwakwe Eze “m”, aged 67, for alleged conspiracy and m of a 26-year-old Chikwado Celestine Eze.

Chikwado had gotten a visa to travel abroad and was taken to the native doctor by the father for fortification but died while he was buried alive

A statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said preliminary investigation showed that Uwakwe Eze took his son to the native doctor’s shrine for rituals intended to fortify him with charms. However, during the ritual, the deceased was buried in a coffin but he unfortunately d!ed in the process. He was rushed to the hospital and confirmed de@d by the attending doctor, and his body deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Ndukwe said the native doctor confessed to the crime and the previous performance of such r!tuals, and said the victim died due to to he did not adhere to the ritual rules he was given initially .

The case is now under investigation, and the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded says Ndukwe.

TRIGGER HAPPY POLICE OFFICER WHO SHOT OGENE MUSICIAN TO DEATH ARESTED AND DETAINED;

The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest and detention of a Police Inspector serving in the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad of the Command for alleged murder of a Popular traditional Ogene musician, Okezie Mba, popularly known as Igbo-Jah.

The Command’s spokesperson DSP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement made available to our Correspondent on Saturday morning, said that the incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Tactical Squad’s Headquarters when the victim was leaving the Squad’s Headquarters after a friendly visit.

Although, Ndukwe said that the intention of the trigger-happy police officer was yet to be understood, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kanayo Uzuegbu, had directed a full-scale investigation into the incident.

OGENE ARTISTE OKEZIE NWAMBA SHOT DEAD BY POLICE ;

popular Enugu Ogene- Artiste OKEZIE Nwannem AKA Igbo- Ja have been shot dead by a Police officer while while performing at a Burial ceremony on Friday October 25th.

He was said have been invited to perform at the office of the mourners after the home performance during a burial ceremony, and in the process was shot eight (8) times by an anti -cult police officer .

Igbo- Ja's body was later taking to UNTH and dumped after the incident.
Investigation is currently ongoing .

He is a native of Ogui Nike Eugu and survived by two sons.

MONTUARY OWNERS TO PAY TAX FOR DEAD BODIES IN MONTUARY;

The Enugu State Government has implemented Tax on dead people. According to reports, the Tax is not charged on grieving families directly, but applies to mortuary owners , who are responsible for remitting it to the Government.

The goal is to encourage timely burial and reduce unnecessary delays to ensure mogues are not misused as long term storage spaces.
