TODAY’S REFLECTION
In the Gospel Jesus says something interesting about being first and being last. It is in response to his questioner who asks, “Will those who are saved be few?” Jesus neither confirms nor denies it. In answer, as an analogy he uses a sporting competition where there is a first place and a last place. He is talking about a spiritual race, a race we want to win but not to be in the first position. The race of life is an uphill race. If there were no difficulties, there would be no victories. To win it without a struggle is perhaps to win it without honour. If there is nothing to struggle for, there will be nothing to achieve. It is a race not meant for medals but for the crown of glory. What he does say is that salvation is not guaranteed for anyone.

TODAY’S REFLECTION
There is no point in struggling to display our goodness and piety as the Pharisees did in the days of Jesus. When we are honest in the way we love God and neighbor, God blesses us in special ways. God brought Ruth out of obscurity into the limelight. Jesus encouraged his followers to be honest in serving God and in relating with others. He rebuked the Pharisees for their hypocrisy in their relationship with God and neighbor. We all have something to learn from the honest love of Ruth in her relationship with her mother in law and in the way she served the true God, whom she discovered through Naomi.
Peace be with us!!!

TODAY’S REFLECTION
In celebrating the Queenship of Mary, we are reminded that we are the chosen people of God and we are also His royal children. So as God’s chosen and royal people, all that we do and say must be geared towards giving glory to God. Mary shows us how to do that when she responds to God’s call by accepting God’s will. In doing so, Mary gives us a concrete example of obedience in the form of service as God’s handmaid. We are not just the chosen and royal people of God, princes and princesses, but also the chosen and royal servants of Christ the king. With Mary as our Queen, let us offer ourselves in service to the church.

Peace be with us 🙏🙏

I express gratitude for the sunshine, appreciate the rain, and acknowledge the pain, yet I look forward to a promising day.
