1ST CORONATION ANNIVERSARY: OYO GOVERNOR TO COMMISSION NEWLY RENOVATED AND EXTENDED ELERUWA PALACE, RECEIVE HONORARY CHIEFTAINCY TITLE
Eruwa, Oyo State — August 13, 2026
The Palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola Ajobo Olurin I, has announced the revised programme of activities for the First Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty, scheduled to hold from Wednesday, September 2 to Sunday, September 6, 2026.
As part of the landmark celebration, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, will, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, commission the newly renovated and extended Eleruwa Palace in Eruwa.
The Governor will also be honoured with the conferment of an Honorary Chieftaincy Title, while the First Lady of Oyo State will equally receive an Honorary Chieftaincy Title during the ceremony scheduled to take place at the Palace.
The announcement was made by the Official Spokesperson to His Royal Majesty and Director of Media and Public Communications, Sunday A. Adedokun, during a media briefing with journalists on Tuesday.
According to the Palace source, the revised dates for the First Coronation Anniversary celebrations are Wednesday, September 2 to Sunday, September 6, 2026, with a series of activities planned to commemorate the first anniversary of the ascension and coronation of His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola Ajobo Olurin I, as the Eleruwa of Eruwaland.
HONORARY CHIEFTAINCY TITLES FOR DISTINGUISHED IBARAPA SONS
Ahead of the main anniversary programme, the Palace will host the conferment of Honorary Chieftaincy Titles on two distinguished sons of Ibarapa Land and their spouses.
The conferment ceremony is scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwaland.
The distinguished honourees are:
1. Dr. Olusola Ayandele and his wife, who will be honoured as Bobagunwa of Eruwaland and Yeye Bobagunwa of Eruwaland, respectively.
2. Chief Adewale Atanda and his wife, who will be honoured by the Ibarapa Traditional Rulers as Otunba of Ibarapa Land and Yeye Otunba of Ibarapa Land, respectively.
The Palace described the forthcoming activities as significant milestones in the history of Eruwa and Ibarapa Land, particularly the commissioning of the newly renovated and extended Eleruwa Palace and the recognition of distinguished individuals whose contributions, service and commitment to the development of the community and Ibarapa Land have earned them the conferment of traditional titles.
The First Coronation Anniversary is expected to bring together traditional rulers, government officials, political leaders, community leaders, sons and daughters of Eruwa and Ibarapa Land, invited dignitaries, and friends of the kingdom from Nigeria and the diaspora for a week-long celebration of heritage, tradition, unity and development.
The Palace further called on the people of Eruwaland, residents, stakeholders and well-wishers to look forward to the anniversary celebrations and participate actively in the activities marking the historic occasion.
