Tinubu Orders Withdrawal of Police from VIPs, Okays Recruitment of 30,000 Personnel

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the withdrawal of police officers assigned to provide security for Very Important Persons (VIPs) across the country, mandating their redeployment to core police duties.

The directive was issued during a security meeting held on Sunday in Abuja, which brought together top security officials, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Adeola Ajayi.

Under the new arrangement, VIPs seeking personal protection will now rely on well-armed personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), rather than the police.

Presidential aides noted that the decision was prompted by the pressing security challenges in many parts of Nigeria, particularly in remote areas where police presence is limited. The redeployment aims to enhance community policing and ensure a more robust response to crime.

In a move to strengthen law enforcement nationwide, President Tinubu has also approved the recruitment of 30,000 additional police officers. Furthermore, the federal government is working with state governments to upgrade police training facilities across the country.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, emphasized that the President’s directive reflects his commitment to improving security for all Nigerians.

"The moment Northern politicians feel that the government is not working in their favor, they resort to violence, unleash terror groups, and plunge the country into chaos. It’s the same script they used to chase out a gentleman like Goodluck Jonathan, and now they’re repeating it with Tinubu.

But unfortunately for them, Tinubu is not Jonathan. Tinubu would rather watch the country burn than step aside. And by the time he’s done dealing with them, he will declare what many Nigerians have quietly been praying for and that will be the end of the matter.

Tinubu will likely be the last president of this British company called Nigeria. After him, everyone will finally rest."

Hackers infiltrate mobile phones of Dangote, Otedola

Hackers have infiltrated the mobile phones of Aliko Dangote, chief executive officer of Dangote Group, and Femi Otedola, chairman of First HoldCo Plc, TheCable can report.

Sources in the camps of both men disclosed that their phones were compromised over the past week.

While Otedola’s phone was hacked once, the mobile device of Africa’s richest man was hacked twice in two days.

Although it is not immediately clear if they have both regained access to their phones, TheCable understands that the hackers have made financial demands.

“The hackers are asking for money from both me.”

Dangote and Otedola have a longstanding friendship, with both men often describing each other as “brothers”.

“Enough is Enough” — Bala Mohammed warns against attempts to destabilise PDP

Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed, has condemned the blockade at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, warning that the party will not allow individuals to tear it down.

He said the PDP does not belong to any one person and vowed that the governors will work with the new NWC to protect the secretariat, defend internal democracy, and uphold the party’s integrity.

Mohammed added that the PDP will not be intimidated or silenced, cautioning the presidency against empowering individuals who misuse state power for internal political fights.

I’ll beat you mercilessly – Nwabali warns Lege Miami against disrespecting late Dad

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has warned popular matchmaker Lege Miami to stop mentioning his late father in his videos.

Lege had criticised several Super Eagles players after Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and referenced Nwabali’s late dad — a move that angered the goalkeeper.

Nwabali wrote on Instagram:

“Lege Miami, remove my late dad’s name from your mouth… I’m not your regular type of footballer, I go beat you mercilessly.”

In response, Lege Miami demanded that Nwabali apologise to Nigerians, saying the goalkeeper insulted him in his DM.

The clash has continued to spark reactions across social media.

REPS SUSPEND 2026 WAEC CBT ROLLOUT OVER INFRASTRUCTURE GAPS

The House of Representatives has ordered the Federal Ministry of Education and WAEC to halt the planned introduction of Computer-Based Testing for the 2026 WASSCE, citing nationwide unpreparedness.

The directive followed a motion by Kelechi Wogu, who warned that rushing into CBT could cause mass failure and distress among students, particularly in rural areas where most candidates lack access to functional computer labs, internet, electricity, and trained ICT teachers.

Lawmakers noted that recent technical glitches on WAEC’s 2025 results portal showed the system’s lack of readiness. They directed the ministry and state governments to include provisions for ICT facilities, computer teachers, and power backups in their 2026–2029 budgets.

The House ruled that WAEC must not implement CBT before 2030 and tasked its relevant committees to engage stakeholders and report back in four weeks.
