HERE ARE 8 KEY WAYS TO CARE FOR NURSING SOW.

1. Provide a Clean and Dry Farrowing Environment:
Ensure the farrowing pen is thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and dry before the sow enters. This reduces disease transmission to vulnerable piglets.

2. Maintain Optimal Temperature:
Piglets are highly susceptible to cold. Provide supplemental heat (e.g., heat lamps or mats) in a creep area to maintain a comfortable temperature (around 32-35°C for newborns, gradually decreasing). The sow prefers cooler temperatures.

3. Ensure Adequate Water and Feed for the Sow:
The nursing sow needs constant access to fresh water and a high-quality lactating sow diet. Water intake is critical for milk production.

4. Monitor Sow's Health and Appetite:
Observe the sow daily for signs of illness (fever, off-feed, mastitis, lameness) and ensure she eats and drinks well. Promptly address any issues.
