📖📖 *DDICC | SEEDS OF DOMINION DEVOTIONAL- by Pst Dr Eke Okoro*📖📖

*Date: Tuesday, July 22, 2025*

*Theme: Dominion My Heritage Through Mentality Shift*

*Topic: IDENTITY IN CHRIST: A key to Mentality Shift*

*Key Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 KJV*
[20] Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. [21] For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

*Objectives:* By the end of today's devotional, you should be able to;

1. Understand the concept of our Identity in Christ.

2. Understand the transition from the old life into the new life in Christ.

3. Understand that our identity in Christ is vital for a mental shift.

*Bullet Points:*
1. The word of God sponsors spiritual renewal and installs our identity in Christ.
2. The word of God mirrors the very life of Christ to the believer.
3. When you run out of Faith, you run out of results. And Faith is critical for the believer's identity in Christ.

Reference: *Pst Dr Eke Okoro*

*Message:*
The journey of the believer begins with a new identity—a spiritual transformation that redefines how we think, live, and respond to life’s challenges. Understanding our identity in Christ is not just theological knowledge; it is the foundation for a renewed mindset and victorious living. Romans 12:2 urges us, _"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."_ This transformation begins by seeing ourselves through the lens of Christ’s finished work. Until we truly grasp who we are in Him, we will live beneath our calling and potential.

In Christ, we are new creations. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, _"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."_ This verse speaks of more than moral improvement—it announces a complete identity shift. Our past sins, failures, and inadequacies no longer define us. The old man is crucified (Galatians 2:20), and a new life has begun. Recognizing this truth should reshape our self-image and self-worth. We are no longer sinners trying to be saints; we are saints learning to walk in the righteousness already given to us.

One of the greatest mentality shifts a believer must embrace is understanding that we are sons and daughters of God, not slaves or beggars. John 1:12 affirms, _"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."_ This identity grants us access, authority, and inheritance. Galatians 4:7 goes further: " _Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."_ When we shift from a slave mentality to a sonship mentality, fear, insecurity, and shame begin to lose their grip. We start walking in confidence, not arrogance, because we know our place in the Father’s house.

Moreover, in Christ we are righteous, accepted, and chosen. Ephesians 1:4-6 teaches us that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, adopted us, and made us accepted in the Beloved. This acceptance is not based on performance but on grace. 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us, _"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people..."—_ this is our spiritual DNA. When these truths saturate our minds, the lies of rejection, unworthiness, and comparison are silenced. We begin to live not for identity, but from identity.

Understanding our identity in Christ also empowers us to live victoriously over sin and fear. Romans 6:11 instructs, _"Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord."_ We are no longer slaves to sin but alive to righteousness. This is not just a moral command but a mindset. When we identify as free, we begin to live as free. Similarly, 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, _"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."_ Knowing our identity dismantles fear-based thinking and replaces it with confidence grounded in truth.

Finally, our identity in Christ realigns our purpose and mission. We are ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20), light in the world (Matthew 5:14), and carriers of divine purpose. When our minds shift from survival to assignment, from insignificance to divine calling, we begin to live intentionally. We stop asking, “What am I doing with my life?” and start declaring, “I am who God says I am, and I am sent for His glory.”

Understanding our identity in Christ is the foundation of a true mentality shift. It rewires our thinking, reshapes our self-image, and repositions us for victorious and purposeful living. The enemy thrives on ignorance, but when we embrace our identity as new creations, beloved children, and empowered ambassadors, we begin to live from a place of truth and grace. Let us continually renew our minds with the Word, declaring who we are in Christ until it becomes the default lens through which we see everything.

*Application:*
To apply this truth, we must consistently meditate on God’s Word concerning our identity. This means intentionally replacing worldly labels and past experiences with what God says about us. Start by making daily confessions of scriptures like 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 1:4-6, and 1 Peter 2:9. When negative thoughts or old patterns try to resurface, confront them with the truth of your identity in Christ. Surround yourself with teachings, music, and community that reinforce your spiritual identity. As you grow in this understanding, your mindset will shift from defeat to dominion, from fear to faith, and from confusion to clarity about your purpose.

*Memory Verse:*
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
[17] Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

*Prayer Guide:*

1. Thank God for the word you have heard this morning

*Now do these prayers:*

2. Father in the name of Jesus, open the eyes of my heart to understand who I am in Christ. Let me see myself the way You see me, and help me walk in the fullness of my spiritual identity. Oh Lord!

3. Father in the name of Jesus, renew my mind by Your Word. Break every old mindset, lie, and insecurity that keeps me bound. Let my thoughts align with Your truth concerning my life and destiny. Oh Lord!

4. Father in the name of Jesus, I reject the spirit of fear and inferiority. I receive power, love, and a sound mind to fulfill my calling as Your ambassador. Oh Lord!

*Message:*
James 1:2-4 says, _“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”_
One of the greatest paradoxes in the Christian life is the call to rejoice in the midst of pain. To the carnal mind, this is irrational; yet, the Scriptures boldly command believers to find joy in trials—not because trials are pleasurable, but because they carry divine purpose. This requires a profound mentality shift. The believer must not merely endure hardships but must embrace them with a mindset transformed by the Word of God (Romans 12:2). This shift allows us to view adversity not as punishment but as preparation—a divine process that produces growth, maturity, and spiritual strength.

Trials, from a kingdom perspective, are not setbacks but setups. They are allowed by God to test the genuineness of our faith and to build endurance and character. As 1 Peter 1:6-7 states, _“In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith... may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”_ Likewise, Romans 5:3-5 affirms, _“We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”_ In other words, trials are classrooms where spiritual champions are trained. They are the wombs that birth glory and virtue.

Joy in trials, therefore, is not an emotional reaction but a spiritual posture. It is not based on the pleasure of the moment but on the revelation of the outcome. Biblical joy is rooted in divine understanding. Hebrews 12:2 presents Jesus as our perfect model: “ _Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame...”_ Jesus endured intense suffering, but His mind was fixed on the joy ahead—the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. This reveals the mentality of one who lives by revelation, not reaction.

This mentality shift moves us from victimhood to vision. Instead of asking “Why me?” we begin to ask, “Lord, what are You perfecting in me through this?” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 says, _“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen...”_ This perspective focuses not on the pain of the process but on the promise beyond it. To walk in joy amid trials, one must fix their gaze on the eternal, not the temporal. This is the thinking of spiritual maturity.

Several biblical figures demonstrate this joyful endurance. Joseph was betrayed, sold, imprisoned, and forgotten—yet he emerged as a ruler in Egypt. His joyful disposition was preserved by his divine vision. In Genesis 50:20, he told his brothers, _“You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.”_ Likewise, Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25 prayed and sang hymns to God at midnight in prison. Their joy became a supernatural key that unlocked divine intervention and led to the salvation of their jailer. Job, who suffered devastating loss, still declared in Job 13:15, _“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”_ His response in trial was not bitterness but unwavering faith. Ultimately, God restored him with a double portion (Job 42:10).

To cultivate joy in trials, believers must first embrace God’s sovereignty—understanding that nothing comes to us without passing through His hands. We must also guard our minds, for Proverbs 23:7 declares, _“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”_ Right thinking fuels right living. It is also essential to surround ourselves with faith-filled voices and godly community, which serve as a wellspring of strength in difficult seasons. Moreover, we should regularly reflect on God’s past faithfulness, which strengthens our confidence in His future goodness.

In conclusion, trials are unavoidable, but how we respond to them determines whether we emerge bitter or better, broken or built. A renewed mind sees God’s hand in every challenge and chooses joy not as an escape from pain but as a declaration of trust.

*Application:*
We must choose joy daily—not as a fleeting feeling but as a firm foundation. Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us, _“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”_ This is a joy anchored not in happenings but in God’s unchanging nature. When we shift our mentality, trials no longer break us—they build us. As kingdom citizens, we don't just go through fire; we come out refined like gold. The mentality shift is this: “I am not a victim of adversity; I am a vessel being prepared for glory.” With this perspective, we rise above discouragement, clothed with joy, marching forward with unwavering faith.

*Memory Verse:*
John 16:33 KJV
[33] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

*Prayer Guide:*
1. Thank God for the word you have heard this morning

*Now do these prayers:*

2. Father in the name of Jesus, thank You for the gift of joy even in the midst of trials. THANK YOU JESUS!!!

3. Father in the name of Jesus, Help me to see with kingdom eyes and to embrace a mentality that trusts You completely. OH LORD!

4. Father in the name of Jesus, Teach me to count it all joy and to walk through every challenge knowing that You are working in me a greater glory. OH LORD!

*Key Reference: Habakkuk 3:17-19 KJV*
[17] Although the fig tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive shall fail, And the fields shall yield no meat; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: [18] Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. [19] The LORD God is my strength, And he will make my feet like hinds' feet, And he will make me to walk upon mine high places.

*Objectives:* By the end of today's devotional, you should be able to;

1. Understand the power of gratitude as a key to Mentality Shift.

2. Understand how Gratitude rewires the Mind for victorious living.

3. Understand how Gratitude builds resilience in hardwork and resets our mental focus.

2. Anything that fights your praise, fights your life.
3. Gratitude is the best attitude; the way of gratitude is the way to altitude in life and destiny.

Reference: *Pst Dr Eke Okoro*

*Message:*
Gratitude is one of the most powerful tools God has given us to transform our minds and shift our perspectives. It is more than a polite response or a social courtesy—it is a spiritual weapon. *If you hear me, do like this 👋🖐️* In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul exhorts us to _“give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”_ This verse reveals that gratitude is not circumstantial—it is a command rooted in divine purpose. When we embrace gratitude, we begin to see through the lens of faith rather than fear, abundance rather than lack, and purpose rather than pain.

The Apostle Paul, in Philippians 4:6–7, teaches that anxiety is defeated when we bring our requests to God _“with thanksgiving.”_ Notice that thanksgiving is not something we reserve for after the prayer is answered—it is part of the process. When we learn to give thanks even before we see the results, our minds are guarded by God’s peace. This is a powerful mentality shift: from worry to trust, from panic to peace. Gratitude disciplines the mind to rest in God’s faithfulness, regardless of what the natural eye sees.

A striking example of this is found in Luke 17:11–19, where Jesus heals ten lepers, but only one returns to say thank you. Jesus acknowledges his gratitude and tells him, _“Your faith has made you whole.”_ The other nine were healed, but only the grateful one was made whole—restored in body, soul, and spirit. This demonstrates that gratitude doesn’t just respond to miracles; it unlocks greater dimensions of blessing. A thankful heart is a magnet for wholeness and elevation. It shifts us from seeing ourselves as victims of life to victors through Christ. *Amen somebody 🙌*

In times of adversity, gratitude helps us remain resilient. The prophet Habakkuk, in chapter 3 verses 17 to 19, presents a scenario where everything around him fails—no crops, no herds, no visible provision—yet he boldly declares, _“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”_ This is a profound shift in mentality: choosing joy and gratitude not because of circumstances, but in spite of them. When we thank God in the midst of trials, we affirm His sovereignty and declare that our faith is not tied to visible outcomes, but to His unchanging nature.

David also understood this power. In Psalm 103:1–5, he instructs his soul, _“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”_ Gratitude is a deliberate act of remembrance. When we forget God's goodness, we complain. But when we remember, we praise. David teaches us that we must sometimes talk to our own souls and remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness. This internal dialogue is what helps shift our mentality from murmuring to worship, from despair to hope.

Moreover, Psalm 67:5–7 reveals a deeper secret: _“Let the people praise thee, O God… then shall the earth yield her increase.”_ Praise and thanksgiving are not just spiritual acts—they unlock fruitfulness. A grateful heart attracts divine increase. When we thank God for the little, He entrusts us with more. Gratitude shifts our thinking from entitlement to stewardship. Instead of complaining about what we don’t have, we become grateful stewards of what we do have, and God multiplies it.

Ultimately, the renewing of the mind begins with gratitude. Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. One of the most effective ways to begin that renewal is through thankfulness. Gratitude removes spiritual blindness. It changes how we interpret events, how we relate with people, and how we perceive ourselves. It realigns our mental posture with God’s promises.

As believers, we must cultivate a lifestyle of thanksgiving—not just when things are good, but as a discipline, a mindset, and a spiritual habit. Start by practicing daily gratitude. Thank God for His mercy, for your breath, for lessons learned in hard times. Journal your testimonies. Speak your thanks out loud. Surround yourself with worship. Let your life be a song of praise, and you’ll find your mentality shifting from darkness to light, from weakness to strength, from fear to boldness.

*Application:*
Listen to this... Intentionally cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude that transforms the way you think, speak, and respond to life’s circumstances. By choosing to give thanks in all things—whether in abundance or lack, joy or sorrow—you align your minds with the truth of God’s Word and invite His peace to govern your hearts. Gratitude trains us to see beyond present challenges, strengthens our faith, and empowers us to live with resilience and joy. As we consistently practice thankfulness, our mentality shifts from fear to faith, from victimhood to victory, and from complaints to confidence in God’s unfailing goodness.

*Memory Verse:*
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
[18] In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

*Prayer Guide:*
1. Thank God for the word you have heard this morning

*Now do these prayers:*

2. Father in the name of Jesus, I thank You for Your goodness. I ask for a heart that remembers, a mind that reflects, and a spirit that rejoices. Oh Lord!

3. Father in the name of Jesus, Help me to see my life through the lens of gratitude. Let every thought of complaint be turned into praise. Oh Lord!

4. Father in the name of Jesus, Help me never to forget Your benefits. Let Your peace guard my heart and mind as I give You thanks always. Oh Lord!
