I believe it’s something you need to know…

Behind every beautiful pair of handmade footwear is a woman who has probably questioned herself a hundred times.

There are days the orders come in, the ideas flow, and everything feels perfect.
And there are days you sit in your workshop wondering, “Am I really making progress?”

But here’s what I’ve learned as a shoemaker:

Progress doesn’t always look like more money.
Sometimes, progress is better finishing.
Sometimes, it’s a new design.
Sometimes, it’s a difficult order you successfully delivered.
And sometimes, it’s simply showing up when you don’t feel like it.

So if you see me still creating, learning, improving and showing up…

Just know that I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m definitely not where I started. ❤️

And that alone is something worth celebrating.

3 BONDING MISTAKES EVERY SHOEMAKER SHOULD STOP MAKING!

Let’s talk about something that can make or break your footwear business—BONDING.

You can have the finest leather, beautiful finishing and a great design, but if your bonding is poor… customer no go hear word. 😂

Here are 3 mistakes to avoid:

1️⃣ Applying glue on dirty surfaces
Dust, oil and dirt can prevent proper adhesion. Always prepare your surfaces properly before bonding.

2️⃣ Joining immediately without allowing the adhesive to tack
Patience matters. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s recommended application and waiting time.

3️⃣ Putting the footwear under pressure too early
Even when the shoe looks bonded, the adhesive may still need time to cure fully. Give it adequate curing time before wearing, flexing or delivering it.

The lesson?
Good shoemaking is not only about how beautiful the shoe looks. The strength of the construction matters too.

As shoemakers, let’s stop rushing the process.
Take your time, do it properly, and let your work speak for you. 👌🏽

GOOD MORNING, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE

Before the day gets busy, take a moment and remind yourself:

You are still here.
You still have dreams.
You still have another chance to make something happen.

As a shoemaker, I’ve learned that beautiful things don’t happen overnight. You cut, stitch, shape, adjust, sometimes start again… and eventually, the finished piece makes you smile.

Life is pretty much the same.

So wake up. Take your dreams seriously. Do the little you can today and leave the rest to God.

No pressure. No comparison. Just progress.

YOU CANNOT SELL TO EVERYBODY. AND THAT’S OKAY.

One of the biggest mistakes I see small business owners make is trying to make everybody their customer.

But the truth is, when you try to sell to everybody, your message can end up connecting with nobody.

As a shoemaker, I need to understand who I’m designing for.

Is it the young lady who wants something stylish for outings?

Is it the working-class woman who wants something comfortable enough for everyday use?

Is it someone looking for premium handmade footwear?

Or is it a parent looking for durable footwear for a child?

Each customer has a different need, budget and reason for buying.

And if I understand that, I can make better decisions about:

👣 The designs I create
💰 How I price them
📸 How I present them
📢 How I market them
🎯 And where I look for my customers

Knowing your customer is not just a marketing strategy. It is a business strategy.

Before you make your next product, ask yourself:

“WHO AM I MAKING THIS FOR?”

Because when you know your customer, you stop creating blindly and start creating intentionally.

And that’s how you begin to understand the flow of your market. 📈
