BONNY LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON BONNY LGA CHAIRMAN
The Bonny Legislative Council (10th Assembly), during plenary on Thursday, 5th March, 2026, unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, for his leadership and developmental strides across the Local Government. The motion for the Vote of Confidence was moved by Hon. Frank Son Banigo, Councillor representing Ward 3 in the Bonny Legislative Council, cited the Chairman’s commitment to good governance, people-oriented policies, and sustained infrastructural development.
In his submission, the Leader of the 10th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kingsley Tammy Jumbo, commended the Chairman for his dedication to ensuring that the Supplementary Budget passed in November 2025 has translated into visible projects and impactful programmes across the Local Government Area. He noted that results from the Assembly’s oversight functions clearly reflect the effective implementation of the budget through ongoing projects; Bonny Local Government Marriage Registry, Bonny Local Government secretariat staff canteen, construction of Homes for the elderly and persons living with disabilities, remodeling of the National Union of Bonny Students Secretariat, interlocking stone at Allison Square and Mgbolobie, renovation of the Bonny Fire Station, 7 Unit self-contained NYSC corpers lodge, women canteen project at St Mark's Anglican Church Abalamabie, completion of the Kuruama Community footbridge, and other strategic initiatives.
The Leader further highlighted several landmark interventions by the Chairman, including the successful sponsorship of the Iria Ceremony for nine Bonny women, the maintenance of a peaceful and economically vibrant festive season, cultural and entertainment support, empowerment of Small and Medium Enterprises through the distribution of washing machines and deep freezers, the continuation of the student bursary scheme, approval of scholarships for students in public tertiary institutions, and the provision of free JAMB forms to support educational advancement among Bonny youths.
The house therefore agreed to support and continuously work in synergy with the Executive Arm of Government to bring the dividends of democracy to the people of Bonny Local Government.
