Breaking: Rivers Assembly Set To Impeach Gov Fubara For The Fourth Time

The Rivers State House of Assembly has once again initiated moves to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara, marking the fourth such attempt amid the protracted political crisis in the state.

Sources within the Assembly confirmed that lawmakers have begun processes that could lead to the governor’s removal from office. Details of the fresh impeachment plot are still emerging, but indications suggest that the move is gathering momentum among members loyal to the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

This latest development comes despite previous failed attempts to impeach Fubara, which were largely stalled by court interventions and public outcry. The ongoing rift between the governor and his predecessor has continued to polarize the state’s political landscape, affecting governance and legislative functions.

As of Wednesday, the Assembly is said to be putting together necessary documentation and building consensus among members to push the impeachment forward. Governor Fubara’s camp is yet to issue an official reaction to the latest threat.

Political observers believe this fourth attempt could further escalate the tension in Rivers State, with potential implications for the 2027 elections and stability in the oil-rich state.
More details are expected in the coming hours as the situation unfolds.

For the first time, I saw what is called a concrete road,” says Akawor as Renewed Hope Ambassadors inaugurate ward coordinators in Eleme

The Rivers State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Amb. Desmond Akawor, has stated that the ongoing construction of the East–West Road in the Eleme axis, being executed with quality concrete casting, is the first time he has witnessed such a standard of road construction.

He made this remark during the inauguration of Ward Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, held at Aleto, Eleme. He added that one of the key purposes of their visit was to confirm that the East–West Road project is progressing as planned.

Akawor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing an Eleme indigene, Chief Hon. Marcus Nle Eji, as Executive Director (Projects) of the South-South Development Commission. He expressed confidence that the appointment would attract major developmental projects to Eleme and Rivers State at large. He also informed the people of Eleme that the Renewed Hope family in Rivers State has resolved that Eleme should produce the next senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, noting that Senator Olaka Nwogu has already been positioned for the role under the PDP.

“His words: We have not come to campaign; we have only come with one message—the message of Renewed Hope; the message to confirm that the East–West Road is on course. That’s why we drove and stopped at three different junctions, and I can tell you, for the first time, I saw what we call a concrete road. We want to confirm that, truly, our brother, Chief Marcus Nle Eji, has been given a new job in the South-South Development Commission, where he will be in charge of Projects. I am sure that with him, if there is any delay in the Oil Mill–Bonny Road, he will ensure it is expedited. I want to confirm to the people of Eleme that your son, Chief Olaka Nwogu, is going back to the Senate to represent this Senatorial District.”

He further appreciated the member representing Eleme Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Aforji Igwe, for standing by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, during the period of political crisis in Rivers State.

In his address, Chief Senator Olaka Nwogu, declared unwavering support for Chief Nyesom Wike, whom he described as the leader of coalition politics in Rivers State. He expressed optimism about the electoral success of all candidates backed by the Rivers Coalition, including himself and President Tinubu.

Nwogu noted that no politician has demonstrated greater commitment to the development of Rivers State thank Wike, adding that his facilitation of the appointment of over forty Rivers indigenes into federal positions remains unprecedented. He also stated that Wike’s developmental strides in Rivers State are being replicated in Abuja in his capacity as FCT Minister, citing ongoing large-scale projects.

He said, “The performing Minister, Nyesom Wike—we will follow him, we will stand by him, we will be with him. If you are going to stand with us as we stand with Wike, can I see your hand? By the grace of God, I have been selected to aspire for the seat of Senator in our senatorial zone. I have no doubt that we will win. We are going to win for Mr. President under the guidance of Wike. We will win the governorship; at this stage, we will win the three senatorial seats, the thirteen House of Representatives seats, and the thirty-two Assembly seats.”

During the formal inauguration, the Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Rivers South-East Senatorial District and Executive Director (Projects) of the South-South Development Commission, Chief Hon. Marcus Nle Eji, conveyed the appreciation of the people of Eleme to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for supporting the candidacy of their son, Senator Olaka Nwogu.

He charged the newly inaugurated ward coordinators to return to their various units and appoint coordinators who would assist in spreading the Renewed Hope message at the grassroots.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Eleme Local Government Area assured the delegation of victory for President Tinubu and all candidates supported by the Renewed Hope family in the state while thanking them for their visit to Eleme.
