Historical Origin of Ke Kingdom
The land of KE was in existence before man could record his experience on earth in writing. This period in KE start when their ancestors first appeared on that island and ends with the beginning of the arrival of the European presence on the coast of the Eastern Niger Delta where written history started.
According to researchers, scholars from different institutions and also with the support of the Rivers State Government via the Ministry of Information also concluded that based on scientific evidence that has proved that KE is a center of ancient civilizations which probably flourished before 1500 BC.
The few archaeological excavations carried out in the Niger Delta only at test level also provide early dates which supersede the very recent dates suggested:
1. Onyoma (Nembe, Nembe Local government area) AD1275-AD1845
2. *Ke (Kalabari, Rivers State) AD800-AD1705*
3. Ogoloma (Okirika, Rivers State) AD1200-1900
4. Okochiri (Okirika, Rivers State) AD860-AD1515
5. Saikiripogu (Ewoama, Brass Local government) AD1000-1600
6. Agadagbou (Kolokuma/Opokuma Local government Area) AD1640-AD1730
7. Koroama (Gbaran, Yenagoa Local government Area) about 16th century AD
8. Isomabou (Ikiribi, Ekpetiama, Yenagoa Local government Area) AD1030-AD1480.
