A Nigerian man came in 1st position at the PhD Graduate Research Competition in Spain.

A Nigerian researcher based in the United Kingdom, Otuu Obinna Ogbonnia, came in 1st position for the ACM CHI Gold Medal at the prestigious PhD Graduate Research Competition held in Barcelona, Spain.

Competing against 62 top researchers worldwide, he advanced through intense rounds to the final stage and was named the overall winner among the best minds in global computing research.

Organized by the globally respected Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), this victory is not just a personal milestone but a proud moment for Nigeria and Africa at large. - Ehugbo TV Channel wrote.

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is the world’s largest and most prestigious professional body in computing.

The gold medalist stated on his wall: "Behold the ACM CHI graduate competition Gold Medalist (First Position). I am pleased to announce that I have been awarded the ACM CHI Gold Medal (first place) in the PhD Graduate Research Competition at CHI 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. The competition was intense, and after witnessing the outstanding presentations from other participants, I began to doubt my chances of winning. From an initial pool of 62 contestants, we were shortlisted to 12, then narrowed to three finalists who advanced to the final round yesterday. The anticipation was intense, and I was so nervous that I found it difficult to sleep because the results were announced only during the closing plenary session. This recognition is deeply meaningful to me and marks a memorable milestone in my professional journey."

Otuu is a lecturer at Swansea University in the United Kingdom. He hails from Ehugbo (Afikpo LGA) in Ebonyi State.

"One of the most p@inful experience I have ever felt was when I went to Abuja last month I requested uber from my apartment to get food. Trip cost was 2500 naira.
‎
‎Uber guy arrived and decided to branch filling station to buy fuel before heading to destination. He asked for 5k fuel and I was quite surprised he asked for a fuel that small considering his tank was empty empty. I asked him why so and he said country is hard and he was struggling.
‎
‎So I asked the fuel guys to fill up his tank which cost approx 70k. In addition to that I also gave him 50k as a gift. He told me I should always feel free to contact him if I ever need a ride and I asked if he was free next day cos my flight was for 7am. He said sure.

‎Next day he picked me up and dropped me off and to my greatest suprise man asked me to pay double the fare to airport because ‘he picked me up early. My life flashed twice.I couldn’t believe what I heard.

‎Till today I still have that flashback and I get over again when I remember it. Not exactly angry because of the money given because I mean I did so with zero expectation and will do so again and again but because it hurts soo much that said young man just lost a beautiful opportunity to know me better and probably get an opportunity to work with me beyond that day"

"My neighbour paid me ₦50,000 to spy on his wife.

He works in another state and only comes home twice a month. Recently, he said he susp£cted something and asked if I had noticed any man visiting her.

I mentioned one guy I usually see around. He told me to take a picture the next time I see him, and later he sent me ₦50k, saying it was a gift.

Last week, I saw the guy coming out of my neighbour's flat. I quickly took a picture of him and sent it to my neighbour.

A few hours later, my neighbour called and said he knows the guy. Apparently, he’s his wife’s best friend.

Now he’s asking me to return the ₦50,000."— Lady shares.
