One quick thought that came to me today:
Many people find themselves teaching because “it’s the available job.” But the classroom deserves more than just availability—it deserves intention.
This term, let’s ask ourselves:
👉 How do my pupils learn best?
👉 What excites them in class?
👉 How do they retain and retrieve knowledge?
Answering these questions helps us know when to keep going and when to change our strategy.
It’s not just about covering the syllabus. It’s about reaching the learner. And the beginning of a term is the best time to make those observations. 🌱

Today’s classes reminded me why I love teaching 💡.
Even though it’s just resumption week and things are supposed to be light, the pupils made it so engaging! I switched strategies across the three classes—storytelling, demonstrations, discussions, Q&A—and even a little STEM/STEAM by letting them “imagine” my demonstrations until they gave me their own answers.
What I loved most?
Pupils freely expressed themselves.
Other teachers couldn’t resist eavesdropping and smiling along.
The lesson flowed naturally without me struggling to “push” understanding.
Sometimes, the magic happens when we pay close attention to learners’ expressions and adjust on the spot. That’s where the real joy of teaching lies ❤️.

🌟 When parents partner with educators, children thrive beyond the classroom walls.

This little girl’s mini webpage project was more than just an assignment — it was the fruit of her mother’s unwavering support.

Even without a fully equipped school ICT lab, her mom ensured her laptop was fixed quickly, cheered her on, and created an environment where she could shine.

💡 Imagine what more we could achieve if every child had this kind of backing.

One of the days with my job and passion as a classroom teacher, had lots of work on my table I already had over 6 classes of over 12periods to teach and still needed to attend to pupils in my class, coupled with extra works on my table which I had to meet up before closing ours.

It was just two periods to closing our and my pupils had creative arts which I was supposed to teach them. To keep them engage while I sort some things out and get back to them, I gave them a color piece board to create anything of their choice.

As a teacher I have learnt to give my pupils some chance to show me what they can do, so I grouped them and asked them to create something beautiful.

Some were scared, some felt like they can’t do anything. One literally said to me “ miss onyi but I don’t know how to draw or paint well” and I replied saying “I can’t do it either but a trial won’t be bad and a day begins a story, go ahead try something I will correct you with some of my ideas to make it more beautiful ok” and the child gave it a try. I encourage team work a lot in my class because in one way or the other it gets everyone involved and everyone learns.

My pupils finally came up with lots of beautiful pictures. What strikes me is the way they did the colour blending? how they had an idea of what to do in few minutes before my lesson started? how they worked together to achieve this?
Learning happened either way🥰
Am grateful to explore each of these pupils inner abilities.

"IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! POP DAY!!!

To all my fellow Education graduates and NYSC teachers, YOU MADE IT!!! You survived the early morning drills, the endless seminars, and the unpredictable PPA experiences in our schools.

But here's the thing: the real challenge is just beginning. The education sector needs passionate and dedicated teachers like YOU, and it's time to take your place in the classroom!

As you close this chapter and embark on the next, remember that YOU HAVE THE POWER TO SHAPE YOUNG MINDS AND CHANGE LIVES!

Don't just teach; INSPIRE! Don't just educate; EMPOWER! Build relationships, create engaging lessons, and make a lasting impact on your students.

And when the going gets tough (and it will get tough), just remember why you started. Remember the passion you had for teaching, the excitement you felt on your first day of service, and the sense of fulfillment you get from seeing your students learn and grow.
