When Bobrisky was a guest on the Isbae U show four months ago, Isbae asked her whom she would reconcile with if given the chance.
And surprisingly she chose Tonto Dikeh.
Tonto and Bob enjoyed a beautiful friendship that spanned across several years. I would put the beginning at 2018, a year after Tonto separated from her ex-husband and relocated back to Nigeria from Ghana with her son, Andre.
Even though I believe that Tonto could have done more to curb Bob’s internet antics and drama, I still admired their friendship and sincerely hoped that it would last. I even vouched for them that, in the event of a breakup, they would part ways amicably and privately.
Sadly, neither of that happened.
Not only did the friendship fall apart, they had a very public fallout which resulted in Tonto spilling some rather dirty secrets involving Bob.
But, given the events that lead to that outburst, I can’t totally fault Tonto.
When Tonto left her marriage in 2017 due to domestic violence, she found solace and haven in her friend, Lady Golfer, whose real name is Blessing Edet Osom.
In addition to offering Tonto a shelter, Blessing nurtured her back to her feet.
But in 2019, Blessing publicly called out Tonto on Instagram.
As far as Blessing’s version of facts goes, Tonto was aggrieved by the friendship between her and her ex-husband and didn’t like that Blessing would praise him publicly or post screenshots of his gifts to her due to the couple’s past history. Especially when Blessing was privy to all the details.
Without detailing everything that Blessing wrote - you can find the information online - her hurt came from the fact that Tonto defamed her after she had shown her nothing but kindness in the past.
In her words, “Tonto never introduced me to Churchill, he came on his own with his friends to eat in my restaurant. This happened before she tried being friends with me just to use me. It was my birthday and for God’s sake “A gift is a gift”.”
To clarify, the gift was N3 million.
Tonto never responded to the callout but it would seem that they later settled their differences behind the scene based on a comment that Blessing wrote some time later and that read (paraphrased): “Tonto is a good person even though she is crazy”.
Why did I give this backstory?
Well, it’s because shortly after Bob and Tonto had broken up, and while the latter was still beefing with Blessing, Bob, who had jumped in to defend Tonto against her during the callout, linked up with Blessing and then linked up with Tonto’s ex husband too.
Bob had also attacked Churchill on several occasions while she was still friends with Tonto.
What a mess.
What I get from this whole drama is that all the people involved are petty, selfish, and dramatic.
Why would Blessing accept to be friends with Churchill after what he did to Tonto?
Even if Tonto were an opportunist who used and exploited her, a woman linking up with her ex-friend’s abusive ex is still a big no.
And the fact that Bobrisky would chastise Blessing only to do the same thing years later is even crazier.
And on to Churchill: is this man so desperate to spite Tonto that he would accept to link up with people who had disparaged him both in private and in public?
And why is Tonto such a bad judge of character?
She just can’t seem to get it right with her friends or her romantic partners.
My opinion is that every single one of these adults is messy, not salvageable, and certainly do not deserve my sympathy.
With that being said, Bob has expressed his desire to reconnect with Tonto. And I would assume it’s because they shared some beautiful and dear memories together.
They laughed together.
Flexed together.
Partied together.
Trolled together.
Fought together.
They were down for each other.
So, it’s so sad that they eventually turned on each other.
As a spectator, I can only hope that they are able to re-discover all the qualities that made their friendship so beautiful and enviable and they retrace their steps back to one another.
Especially now that Bob is currently serving time after being found guilty of mutilating the Naira.
May the love that once bound them find them again.
