📖: MARK 8:11-13, GENESIS 4:1-15,25.

The story of Cain and Abel shows us how original sin can spread like a virus. But Jesus, the ‘New Adam’, is the leader of a new creation; those living by His truth and grace.

The blood of Abel still flows in places of conflict all over the world.

We continue to hear God ask; “Where is your brother?” where is that brother or sister on a sick bed; that brother or sister who is hungry; that brother or sister who has no house to live in; that brother or sister who lives away from the Church?

Perhaps we can try in some small way to break the cycle of division, resentment and revenge by being the sign.

Our embrace of Christ’s truth can bring peace to our soul and to our life. We can be a sign of peace in a violent and troubled world.

The Apostles came back from their mission and briefed Jesus about all they taught and did.

Jesus wanted them to go to a lonely place and have some rest as they were tired. But the crowd reached the destination before they could.

This is typical of people. They are eager to make sacrifices and take risks to get whatever they dearly cherish.

This they did and deprived the Apostles of their rest. Jesus, who wanted to have privacy with them, rescinded his decision. He had compassion on the crowd and began to teach “for they were like sheep without a shepherd”.

Sometimes we have to set aside our schedules and comforts to reach out to humanity or to God. For in giving we receive.

The story of Stephen's persecution tells us what the wicked world is and what hatred is from closed people.

*People who know you not only know the best way to please you but knows also the best way to grieve you.*

Those who jealous and envied Stephen were his people.

Those who hated and initiated his stoning were his people.

*But God loves the hated.*

God loved Stephen and constantly filled him with the Holy Spirit.

With this, Stephen was focused even in the face and at the peak of his persecution.

Apart from God's love to us, another precious gift God gives to those who truly love Him is *'the beauty of His Holiness'.*

*What is the beauty of God's Holiness?*

STEPHEN SAW THE GLORY OF GOD.

HE SAW THE HEAVENS OPENED.

HE SAW JESUS STANDING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD

*This is the beauty of God's Holiness.*

The beauty of God's Holiness was revealed to Stephen even at the very last moment of his life.

Beloved, the beauty of God's Holiness makes us stronger. IT IS A UNIQUE GIFT FOR FEW PEOPLE.

THEME: FOCUS ON THE THINGS THAT LAST.

📖 LUKE 25:5-11.
🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
Jesus predicts the sad and terrible destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem... The message he would want us to draw from this prediction is that anything man made, even the most noble and spectacular creations, are transitory and short-lived.

However admirable they may be, they would not give us lasting happiness.

We need to focus our attention on the next world which will last forever. We need to spend our earthly life building up our heavenly mansions by our good works, prayers and sacrifices.

We need to learn from the signs of the times to remind ourselves that the end of this world is sure to come.

The poor widow’s offering was not more than that of others in terms of quantity. But when Jesus said she put in more than others, he was referring to the quality of her offering.

Quality is measured from the attitude of the heart. It was her giving without reservation, giving until it hurts, and giving without counting the cost that impressed Jesus.

Such persons are the ones counted among the 144, 000 in heaven who follow the lamb wherever he goes. How do we give when we give?

Do we give quantity or quality... Search your heart, THE WIDOW'S MITE IS A LEASON.

FRIDAY, 22ND NOVEMBER, 2024.

THEME: AS A TEMPLE BE CLEAN FOR GOD.

📖 LUKE 19:45-48.
🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
The Temple of Jerusalem was for the Jewish people, the most respectful house of prayer and the offering of sacrifices.

However, it had become a centre of such commercial activities like buying and selling, exchanging and of conversion of currencies that the temple had lost its sanctity.

Cleansing the temple... of such elements and activity was a bold act on the part of Jesus, burning with zeal for the house of God.

It has the symbolic meaning of Jesus as Saviour of the world, coming to redeem us from the evil powers and sin.

This cleansing should begin right from the heart of each one of us as every person is a dwelling place of God.

Jesus wept over Jerusalem because it “did not know the time of its visitation”.

The Lord himself was in the midst of its people, bringing them the good news of salvation and peace.

But they refused to listen to him and change their lives. What an opportunity missed!

We are also privileged to have the Lord’s visitation in many ways-in the Holy Eucharist, in the poor and needy, in the daily events of life etc. do we recognize the Lord’s presence and turn these occasions into opportunities for our growth and for the increase of our blessings? Or do we pass by them by and miss the opportunity of the Lord’s visitation?
