17 Nigerian students just represented the country at an international coding competition in China. 🇳🇬🌍
On August 22, 2026, 17 students from four schools in Abuja participated in the iCode Competition in Beijing, China, where they showcased coding, creativity, technological skills, problem-solving and innovation.
The Nigerian delegation was led by students from Glisten International Academy, alongside students from three other Abuja schools, and was accompanied by five chaperones.
Following the competition, the students also visited the Nigerian Embassy in Beijing, where they were received by Nigeria's Ambassador to China, Abdulrahman Dambazau.
But beyond the headline, there is a bigger lesson here for Nigerian schools.

📖 Textbooks
✍️ Examinations
Students also need opportunities to build, compete, create, collaborate and solve real problems.
International competitions, STEM programmes, coding challenges, Olympiads and other academic opportunities can expose students to experiences they may never get from the classroom alone.
