Rivers State University Introduces Sponsor Link To Address Communication Gap

The Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, has unveiled a new feature - Student-Sponsor Account, called SponsorsLink as part of its ongoing re-engineering efforts. This innovation is to address the problems of students collecting funds but not paying fees, leaving school but still pretending to be in school and inability of parents, guardians and sponsors to ascertain progress and performance of their children, wards and beneficiaries.

The platform is also designed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and communication between students and their parents, guardians and sponsors.

SponsorsLink is available on the university's portal (www.rsu.edu.ng) and offers a range of benefits. Sponsors can track academic performance, monitor outstanding fees, make payments, and access detailed student profiles from a single dashboard. This centralized system ensures that sponsors are no longer left in the dark regarding the academic and financial status of their wards.

To utilize SponsorsLink, sponsors need to create an account on the RSU eCampus platform. This involves selecting a sponsorship type, filling out a registration form, and verifying their email address using a confirmation code. Upon successful registration, sponsors pay a one-time onboarding fee based on the number of wards they intend to manage.

Once registered, sponsors can add a ward by searching with the student's registration number, matriculation number, or full name. After the student approves the request, the sponsor gains access to various features. These include checking results, which requires a result-checking fee, viewing student profiles, and making tuition or related payments directly through the platform.

The introduction of SponsorsLink demonstrates RSU's commitment to enhance the educational experience of students. This initiative is expected to foster better communication between students, sponsors, and the university, ultimately contributing to the success of RSU students.

Father's Day Message to My Fellow Fathers at the Rivers State University

To our esteemed male staff, particularly our fathers, on the occasion of Father's Day 2025, I salute you and extend warm greetings and appreciation for your dedication, leadership, and mentorship. Your roles extend beyond the university walls, shaping lives and futures. As fathers, you inspire, guide, and nurture. Your influence resonates deeply, fostering growth, resilience, and character.

One area of my research interest in Organisational Behaviour has been Organisational Parenting. Inspired by my relationship with some of my mentors, I developed this concept as the highest form of mentoring wherein a mentee acquires some values, behaviours and privileges of a mentor. This makes every male staff, that bestows their admirable personality onto students, an organisational parent worthy of commendation this day designated to honour fathers across the world.

At Rivers State University, we value your contributions as staff and fathers. Your commitment to excellence, innovation, and mentorship enriches our community. So today, we celebrate your love, wisdom, and sacrifices. May this special day bring joy, gratitude, and cherished moments with loved ones.

2025 WORKERS' DAY MESSAGE TO THE STAFF OF RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY, NKPOLU-OROWORUKWO, PORT HARCOURT.

Dear esteemed colleagues, teaching and non-teaching staff.

As we commemorate Workers' Day (May Day) this year, I would like to extend my warmest greetings and appreciation to each and every one of you. Today, we recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions you make to our university community. As we navigate this period of re-engineering our University, your dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence are crucial to our success. Your tireless efforts have enabled our institution to achieve academic excellence, foster innovation, and make a positive impact in society.

I acknowledge the challenges we face, but I am confident that together, we can overcome them and emerge stronger. Your hard work, resilience, and passion for our University's mission inspire me and drive our progress. These, *your potential contributions to the achievement of the University's mandate in the face of our challenges*, account for the targets we have set for ourselves under this administration.

On this Workers' Day, therefore, I encourage us to reflect on our collective achievements, recommit to our goals, and look forward to a brighter future.
