We write today with burning anger, heavy grief, and deep disappointment over the shocking and still unexplained death of Ebirien Godwin, an Andoni student of the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Sakpenwa.
This painful loss has shaken our hearts to the core.
This was meant to be a season of hope.
This was meant to be a season of beginnings.
This was the very first matriculation of the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Sakpenwa, a historic moment for the university, our Brothers and Sisters that gained admission into the university, and their future. Yet, instead of celebration, we are thrown into mourning.
How can a young life, full of promise and ambition, be taken in silence?
How can a student walk into a new university with dreams in their heart and never return to their family?
How can such a tragic death happen without clear answers?
The pain in Andoni land today is unbearable.
The anger is justified.
The disappointment in the system meant to protect our children is overwhelming.
Ebirien Godwin was not just a student.
He was a son of Andoni.
He was a future leader.
He was a living hope to a family and to a struggling community that believes education is the only way forward.
We reject silence, and demand an immediate, unbiased, and thorough investigation into the circumstances of Ebirien Godwin’s death.
We reject vague explanations, The management of the Federal University of Environment and Technology must provide answers. If there was negligence, there must be consequences.
We reject delay, We do not want sympathies, we want the truth. We want justice that is visible, swift, and absolute.
This is not just another tragic story that should be swept away and forgotten.
We demand a full, transparent, and independent investigation into the death of Ebirien Godwin.
We demand that everyone involved, directly or indirectly, be identified and held accountable.
We demand that the truth be made public — not tomorrow, not later, but now.
Our hearts are broken.
Our trust is wounded.
Our patience is exhausted.
Andoni people are not happy.
Students are not safe in fear and confusion.
Parents are afraid to send their children to school.
Justice must not be negotiated.
Justice must not be delayed.
Justice must not be buried with the victim.
For Ebirien Godwin.
For his family.
For every Andoni child who still dares to dream.
Justice must be served.
