It was amazing working with Franca Umasoye Igwe as One of her goals as a wikitongues fellow is to populate the internet with more rich visuals that represents the Ekpeye people and their cultural events on the internet to further the wikimedia mission of making knowledge open and accessible for all.

Etá, is an ancient cultural event of the Ekpeye people and many ethnic groups in Nigeria, it continues to thrive to this day.

In times past, this sport was instrumental in selecting kings, warriors, leaders and even husbands for brides.

Legend has it that the wrestling ground served as the ultimate testing ground, where the strongest of men were identified and proclaimed kings.

Eta remains an integral part of Ekpeye’s rich cultural heritage, it fosters love, unity, and oneness among the people as everyone comes together to cheer their favorite participants.
